Trump administration kills Obamacare ads for HealthCare.gov
CNBC ^ | 1/26/2017 | Dan Mangan

The Trump administration has reportedly killed media ads designed to encourage people to enroll in insurance coverage through the federal Obamacare marketplace before next Tuesday's open-enrollment deadline.

The former CEO of that marketplace, HealthCare.gov, called the move an "outrageous decision" to "sabotage open enrollment" in Obamacare.

The White House also has ended other outreach efforts to spur sign-ups on the HealthCare.gov marketplace, according to Politico, which broke the story Thursday.

Early in the Obama regime, we were treated to taxpayer financed ads encouraging (black) people to apply for food stamps. They made it sound just like free money.

As to the idea that the Ad Council is a govt agency, this is the wiki description of it. We must be diligent not to deseminate wrong info if we are going to accuse the other side of doing so.

The Advertising Council, commonly known as the Ad Council, is an American non-profit organization that produces, distributes, and promotes public service announcements on behalf of various sponsors, including non-profit organizations, non-governmental organizations and agencies of the United States government.

Liberals complain since Viagra is covered so should Birth Control.

My question, why is Viagra covered in the first place?

Gives new meaning to the phrase Pay for Play, and I don’t mean the Taxpayers.

The government should not be promoting government dependence.

Viagra is covered because erectile dysfunction is a medical condition. Birth control wasn’t covered because it interferes with the normal functioning of the human female body, it does not treat a medical condition.

Excellent, more winning.
Do we really need the Ad Council to tell us:
“Only You Can Prevent Wildfires.”

“Take a Bite Out of Crime.”

“I am an American.”

“Take Time to Be a Dad Today.”

NGOs and government agencies fund them, and we know where they get their money: us.
Let’s remember to lobby to have the Ad Council added to Trump’s To Do list.

If Trump stated emphatically in a speech that the mandate is optional with no IRS enforcement while 0-care is being repealed, it would force congress’ hand and guarantee a speedy repeal. As long as the public is fully informed that the mandate will not be enforced, many more will decline to buy insurance and 0-care will quickly go into the death spiral.
Any rino that said such a statement was premature would be outed and risk losing their seat.

Preachy, annoying announcements on behalf of preachy, annoying sponsors.

Seems like half the billboards around here are infected with the algae bloom of Ad Council nanny state admonitions.

Whatever happened to advertising real products and services?

Ad Council, a government-subsidized outfit, also runs those "feed the pig" ads - encouraging private citizens to save more. always got a chuckle out of that, given our government has $20 Trillion in federal debt, $200 Trillion in unfunded liabilities. 😂

I wrote:

Ad Council” that has been a fixture of government propaganda

That is a true statement. It is not false because the Ad Council is a non-profit.

Perhaps it would be more correct to say that the Ad Council promotes “Establishment propaganda”. It is an arm of the Establishment media.

The Ad Council is not accountable to anyone, but it has enormous power.

It decides what gets promoted, and what does not get promoted, during thousands of hours of air time that it does not have to pay for, every year. The Ad Council estimates that it gets 1.8 billion dollars worth of media every year.

If you listen to the Ad Council ads, they are strongly peppered with “progressive” themes.

http://www.adcouncil.org/About-Us/Frequently-Asked-Questions

Here is some information from the above link:

Ad Council campaigns are produced pro bono by the country’s leading advertising agencies, who donate their services on a volunteer basis. The people of these agencies donate their ideas, expertise, and time to help create each one of our ads. Each Ad Council campaign is sponsored by a non-profit organization or federal government agency, which provides the production and distribution costs and serves as the “issue expert.” The Ad Council works closely with the advertising agency and sponsoring organization throughout the (approximate) 9-month process to develop a campaign which involves 6 major stages: 1) research and planning; 2) strategic development; 3) creative development; 4) production; 5) distribution/media outreach; and 6) monitoring and evaluation.
