One commentator said they’re saving Sessions until after the DeVos vote because they need his vote as a senator. Once he’s confirmed as AG, he immediately loses his job as US Senator.

I heard/read that, too. And, not only Devos, they may also want/need Sessions to vote for others such as Price and Pruitt.
