Poll Shows Only 33% Oppose Trump's Temporary Ban on Immigrants From Terrorist Havens

A poll taken late last week shows that a majority of likely voters approve of President Trump’s temporary halt to refugees and visitors from seven Middle Eastern and African countries.

Via Rasmussen:

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 57% of Likely U.S. Voters favor a temporary ban on refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen until the federal government approves its ability to screen out potential terrorists form coming here. Thirty-three percent (33%) are opposed, while 10% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Similarly, 56% favor a temporary block on visas prohibiting residents of Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen from entering the United States until the government approves its ability to screen for likely terrorists. Thirty-two percent (32%) oppose this temporary ban, and 11% are undecided.

The survey was taken prior to the weekend, so it remains to be seen whether the trumped-up media firestorm and Soros-sponsored protests had any effect on public opinion.

However, the findings are consistent with a Rasmussen poll from August 2016:

59% of voters agreed with Trump’s call for a temporary ban on immigration into the United States from "the most dangerous and volatile regions of the world that have a history of exporting terrorism" until the federal government improves its ability to screen out potential terrorists.

The party breakdown of this latest poll is striking:

The refugee ban is supported by 82% of Republicans and59% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Democrats are opposed by a 53% to 34% margin. The numbers are nearly identical for the temporary ban on visas from these seven terrorist-plagued nations.

According to Rasmussen, men and women agreed to the policy in equal numbers. Younger voters were slightly less supportive.

While the American people decisively approve of the policy, as even Democrats could only garner 53% opposition, the mainstream media is targeting individuals and companies who aren't sufficiently outraged by Trump's executive order. It's a modern-day witch hunt:

The left have not learned form the election. People are fed up and the silent majority are fed up of trying to get to work and be blocked, trying to board a plane to miss it, tired of seeing people act out as babies, and people want the country to get together and work for the better of the country.

I hope the left keeps doing this as even my mother in law life time MA Dem is fed up of these people now.

If Schumer and the Dems are successful, they may need to flee to Canada and...Oh wait. Trudeau is loading Canada with folks who hate and KILL Jews and Christians. But if they DO head north, I hope they take Amy with them!

We need to give them something new to get outraged about every single day. They won’t know how to deploy their forces from one day to the next.

I think it’s been pretty well established that about 33% of the people are leftwing Progressives who would support Obama on any issue at any time.

So ... these people oppose Trump? Well, I’m just shocked.

The People support President Trump's immigration ban, despite what the Propaganda Wing of the Democratic Party says. President Trump knows this and he will not be stopped.

Whoa!! The MSM had better get on cooking some polling data pronto. They can’t allow honesty to slip in the polling. By the end of the week I am sure the polls will show that 90% of the voters want a mosque next door and think Bin Laden was misunderstood.

Some choices are difficult. May Donald J. Trump act in wisdom, kindness and go forth. We back his efforts to curb violent invasion of a cultural movement dressed in a garb of religion. Walls may be necessary and stop people to ask lots of questions...of WHY they want to come to the USA.

And it will cause spectacular (and entertaining) in-fighting, as the various leftist protest groups (think BLM, Pro-Abortion, ACLU, LGBT, illegal immigrants, etc.) all jockey for which group seems to be the most oppressed.

This ain't a democracy - I don't care how many are for it or against it.

What is important is, is it lawful, and is it right?

The first, definitely. It is lawful.

The second, well, IMHO, the temporary hold on immigration didn't include ENOUGH Moslem countries.

While the libs scream indignation at a temporary policy with almost no impact even on immigrants, Trump is driving through solid progress on deregulation and turning back the worst of Obama's excesses under the radar.

Trump is a master of misdirection.

Polls shows 67% APPROVE of Trump’s ban.

But they can’t go and make it look good so they have to approach it from the negative angle, don’t they?
