McConnell...call Trump, advise him you will adjourn the senate at a prescribed time, for one hour, and he can do them all with recess appointments.

No, that would require courage. Something Mitch does not have. We should start a “days since the last bill was passed” counter. These guys get paid for nothing!

Do what Obama did with the Inspector Generals. Just appoint interim IG’s who do not require senate approval and keep the office vacant.

An interim IG for the state Dept for 5 yrs is what allowed Hillary to get away with her emails and lose all that $$$$$

Recess appointments only last to the end of the current Senate term.

We’d need the cabinet members for longer than that.

But then again, President Trump has more info and advisers than me, and plays 3-d chess.

Do it for 24 hours and fill all those empty Federal judicial seats.

Mic drop.

For a recess appointment to have effect, the Senate needs to bein recess or 10 days.

I don’t see why he shouldn’t be able to deem them acting cabinet officers until such time as the senate gets around to voting. I know he can’t do that, but it would be nice.

First, they have to be adjourned for 10 days. Second, they will still need to be confirmed as their appointment is only good until the end of next year.

The President can make appointments during a recess - not when the Senate is adjourned. Adjournment is merely close of business for the day.

Why wait for that? The Indonesian has already set precedent for non recess appointments!
