Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on Thursday went out of his way to assert that Australia remains a critical ally of the United States after reports that President Trump badgered and hung up on Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull during a weekend phone call.

“I know Prime Minister Turnbull. He was in my office a couple months ago. He is a very important ally. Australia is a very central ally. They are and will continue to be,” Ryan told reporters during a news conference.

Later, Ryan was asked by a reporter for Australian Broadcasting Corp. if her country should be worried about its relationship with the U.S. less than two weeks after Trump took office.

The GOPe spent years not fighting back, because they seemed resigned to their role as Designated Losers.
Now Trump is in the White House and Trump is Winning! Winning! Winning!
And GOPe is actively helping the Democrats.

It’s not like the GOPe are clumsy about exercising power. It’s more like: The GOPe wants an International Socialist Revolution.

Did Ryan and McCain fall for fake news?

Ryan likes to make Trump look like he doesn’t KNOW history, or who our allies are.

NeverTrumpers are thick in the R Party leadership.

Ryan, Cruz, McCain, Graham.

Don’t for a minute think these bitter clingers and climbers will change their stripes.

I think Trump needs to call in McWeasal, Ryan and a few other wannabe presidents in the congress and tell them there is one captain of this ship. And then address McIsane directly. John when you win this office you will speak for this country, otherwise stand down or face the consequences of trying to illegally direct the foreign policy of this country. You are out of line and behaving like a prima donna democrat!

Certain individuals can be counted to pop up on any remotely negative sounding news regarding the Trump administration, like whack-a-mole. It’s gotten fairly predictable. Ryan, McCain, where’s our dear Linda? Or did McCain have a mental lapse and forget it was a “joint” statement?

Once again, Ryan demonstrates extraordinarily poor judgment. Nothing constructive--nothing beneficial to either American or Australian interests can possibly come from his perceived need to interject himself into this incident. Nor is there any likely benefit to the Republican Party.

This appears to be beyond stupid.

Those are not refugees. Australia has it’s own illegal alien problem, Just as we do on our southern border. All those Muslims are on one of Australia’s little islands.

Why would Muslims want to leave a Muslim country? Weren’t they happy in Indonesia?

Hidden agenda!

Good for Trump to step away from it.

What’s he supposed to do? Escalate tensions for absolutely no reason over nothing just because Trump has an undiagnosed personality disorder?

You’ve been here a while. Flying the Tennessee flag on your home page. Should be a perfectly reasonable FReeper and yet you aren’t.

Why might that be? Who did you support for the Republican nomination?
