While immigration advocates say more than 100 people were detained Thursday as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials conducted home raids across three Southern California counties, the federal agency insists its operations were "routine" and not part of President Donald Trump's unprecedented immigration crackdown.
ICE officials have yet to release detailed information on how many people the agency arrested Thursday and where they were taken into custody, only stating that the activities were "targeted and lead driven, prioritizing individuals who pose a risk to our communities," according to ICE spokesperson Lori Haley.
"Examples would include known street gang members, child sex offenders, and deportable foreign nationals with significant drug trafficking convictions," she said in an email. "To that end, ICEs routine immigration enforcement actions are ongoing."
However, according to Jorge-Mario Cabrera, communication director for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of L.A., those detained were either people with deportation orders but no criminal background or family members of those sought who were home during the raids and told officials they lacked documentation.
The organization's attorneys confirmed there is a list of more than 100 people being detained at the ICE processing center in downtown Los Angeles after immigration raids were carried out at homes in Santa Paula, Oxnard, Van Nuys, Downey and San Bernardino, Cabrera said.

Arrest and deport all illegal alien invaders. NEVER let them become Citizens...never let them return. Seize their assets to help pay for their illegal acts.
Talk about shooting fish in a barrel...arrest a couple of illegals and then just wait for the rest of the illegals to show up and protest...round them up and deport them to...done.
If they realize showing up at these events actually has consequences, few will do it.
Great. More illegals to detain.
The strategy should be obvious:
conduct some highly visible arrests with a large nearby Reserve, wait for a big demonstration, then arrest everyone there.
They did it in Japan, a deportation Pearl Harbor..
Genius!
Make life easier for them and they will come and stay.
The gravy train is over.
Dear ICE,
there are currently 100,000 ILLEGAL ALIEN CRIMINALS living, working ILLEGALLY in PACOIMA, CALIFORNIA. A city with 117,000 residents and only 17,000 CITIZENS!!!
WHEN ARE YOU COMING??
Must be so confusing..on one hand you know you’re breaking our laws in many different ways and need to take responsibility, and on the other an entire political party holds you up as heroes and the future of America.
Everyone needs to watch the movie “ The End Watch”. Kind of a sneaker about two LA cops who get drawn into the world of the Mexican Cartel. Even the black gangs fear them. An internal cancer that has to be eliminated.
Ah, the usual suspects have already arrived. . .
Ilegales! Evitar la prisa y ver el interior de una cárcel yankee apestoso. Auto-deportar ahora! (Te darás las gracias más tarde). adiós
” the federal agency insists its operations were “routine” and not part of President Donald Trump’s unprecedented immigration crackdown”
And why does this matter?
A legal raid is a legal raid,
,
“Immigrants rights”? Immigrants have no rights. Constitutional rights apply only to American citizens.
“End of Watch” from 2012?
It is not unprecedented.
This is the face of what enforcing the law means. It is a sad commentary on the state of the Rule of Law, the very foundation of our Republic.
I’m all in favor of deportations, but it seems like putting the cart before the horse if border security isn’t there yet.
Hopefully these aliens are being warned that if they `boomerang’ and have to be caught again they go directly o jail.
