A Kenyan girl was denied entry into the United States a day after courts barred President Donald Trump from deporting immigrants.
Ednah Chepkoton, 25, was held at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport for many hours after getting off a United Airlines flight on February 4.
She had been given a five-year multiple entry visa by the US embassy in Nairobi on January 20.
Ednah, a Kabianga university nursing graduate, narrated her harrowing experience to the Star from the airport, after an immigration officer singled her out of thousands of passengers who were on transit.
"We landed at around 9.30 am but when I was clearing with customs an immigration officer called me aside and started questioning me," she said.
Chicago is one of the areas where anti-travel ban protests have simmered for days

A girl is now 25 year old? Guess that sounds more reactionary than “a 25 yo woman...”
A Kenyan girl? Age 25. I thought she was going to be 16 or 17 years old.
If they can’t be vetted they all need to be sent back. Screw the 90 ban crap, just use the vetting to put a stop to this liberal idiocy.
Imagine the outrage if you referred to an American black woman of age 25 as a ‘girl’..........................
That's news to me, and I bet DHS would also be surprised to know that they can't deport immigrants.
Break out the kleenex.
This is a Kenyan paper. Their use of english may have different meanings in their culture..meaning..girl may be something they call an unmarried young women under 30..kind of thing.
Commie libs find another sob story. Get out those tiny violins. American grandmas are being detained, disrobed, frisked and harassed by TSA at airports. I don’t see a problem with what happened here. BTW: Why didn’t the Marxist messiah fix his homeland when he was “president” so America would not have to accept freeloaders from that country?
Where are those 1,500 lawyers waiting at O’Hara when you need them? :-)
When I saw “girl” I was expecting someone 4, 5, maybe 6 years old.
But 25? Give me a break. That is a grown woman.
0bama can let her stay at his crib then.
This incident has absolutely ZERO, ZIP, NADA to do with the immigration ban from the seven countries. There is almost certainly some immigration issue involved which is not covered in the article and/or disclosed by the expelled foreign national.
People are posting tons of stories like this on Facebook. The media is just trying to make it look like Trump is keeping EVERYONE out. Given the nature of the TSA, this could also be routine incompetence or even a deliberate act to smear Trump.
Okay..for all of you that keep harping about the use of the word “girl”
about a 22 year old
Weetabix row linked to murder of JKUAT girl
about an adult no age give.Miss World Africa,.
Kenya’s most beautiful girl to fight FGM
Ednah Chepkoton, “girl” at 25?
I thought adulthood began at 18 (perhaps 21) but certainly the feminist would be all over these reporters for calling her a “girl”.
Oh, I forgot, they want to invoke sympathy, and presenting an image of a child is better than an adult.
Just another way the media creates “fake news”.
I’ve seen articles around the web to the effect that Customs and Immigration procedures on US soil are being tightened. The EO was a delay on granting clearance prior to arrival due to lacks in credible vetting in the countries listed.
Trump can multitask and, evidently, so can the agents in Customs and Immigration. Overseas vetting at US Embassies raises the specter of HRC holdovers or other State Department dissidents.
Screw this propaganda.
I am an American citizen and I have been detained at an airport for 3 hours after coming in from overseas. Its called ICE doing their job.
NO SYMPATHY.
She’s from Kenya. People like this were detained all throughout the Obama years, but now the sob stories start.
The Days of jumping off the plane and walking right in are over ,but Obama is still on his phone ,in his New Office in his garage
Too bad that we did not have a travel ban on Kenya in the 1960s. The last 8 years of our lives would have been vastly different! :-)
