This falls on Governor moonbeam and his stupid train to nowhere instead of building more reservoirs while the state continued mushroom growth.Absolutely true, and the brown one was repeatedly warned over decades.

I find it amazing that the official word went from “situation is stable” to essentially “run for your life!” within a matter of hours.

That webcam is at the top of lake pointing directly at the emergency spillway.

Officials are anticipating a failure of the auxiliary spillway at Oroville Dam within the next 60 minutes Most people were calling for evacuation 2 days ago. Sure hope everyone gets out in time.

It’s never good for water to go over the top of a dam.
To: Navy Patriot
Freepers warned those near the dam to get out three days ago. Wise people did, because Freepers know these things.

Hope it ends up on Youtube....
Sorry for folks downstream....

What about all that TARP money on Obama's watch that was supposed to fix infrastructure? Guess it didn't get to where it was supposed to go. Dems own this.

IO just saw a vehicle travel across it. You would think if it were about to give way that they would not risk someone’s life to cross it.

Well, the KCRA copter footage at this hour didn’t look quite that dire to me. They should know of course, but I always wonder about the whole issue of “code language”.
This situation is obviously outside of design parameters, judging by the news footage. The lake level has pushed the spill point laterally past the actual auxilliary spillway so that it’s flowing down a slope from a parking lot there.
So, is this a failure? The spillway itself doesn’t look like it’s being undermined, to my layman’s eye.
So, I have hope that the structure can last a while. It’s hour by hour, I guess.
