Mayor de Blasio’s carefree spending these last three years may be about to bite him (and the city) in the backside — as the local economy seems to be winding down.
“Last August I reported the economy had gone from a sprint to a jog,” says city Comptroller Scott Stringer in his latest economic update. Now, it has “slowed to a walk. After years of steady growth, we’re beginning to see real signs of an economic slowdown.”
Stringer cited weakening: a yearly rate of 1.8 percent in the last quarter of 2016, down from 2.8 percent the quarter before. Payroll jobs fell at an annual 1.2 percent rate, with losses in almost every sector. Commercial leasing activity and venture-capital investment also saw dial-backs.

The answer is more taxes. Shoe tax. Breathing tax. Walking tax. Sidewalk tollways for pedestrians. Taxes on desserts. Elevator taxes. Window taxes. Door taxes....

I’ve done my part. I promised myself not to spend a nickel in NYC while this loser is mayor and I have, so far, kept that promise.
Time for a tax hike!!! I’m sure the greedy “rich” will be willing to pay their “fair share” to support the extra spending. I mean, God forbid that spending get cut.
I am in Los Angeles and do the same thing, I BUY Almost NOTHING in this State and make most purchases from my home in Arizona.
They will just blame it on the million a day security for Trump Tower. Believe me they will definitely blame that. No doubt at all.
I made the same pledge. Skipping my annual convention pilgrimage every year until De Commie-O is out of office.
I may return, depending on what they replace him with.
I can't tell you how many major, heavily used thoroughfares are absolutely full of potholes, have the lane markings completely worn off so you can't tell what lane you're in, and have the streetlights burned out for years. At a major intersection in my own neighborhood, you could tear out the underbelly of your car because there is a sewer cap sticking several inches up above the rest of the pavement. This is typical of the extremely sloppy street repairs that are done WHEN they are done at all. I watched a repair crew "fix" a pothole last summer and could tell they weren't doing a proper job. Sure enough, before the day was out, their repairs had sunk several inches. A couple months later, a proper job of repair was finally done to the area.
You have homeless sleeping in bank ATM centers, despite the multitude of fake motels being put up in non-tourist areas and then miraculously being converted to homeless shelters, at great cost to taxpayers, a few months later. You have tons of black teenagers beating up people walking down the sidewalk or riding the subway. You see a lot of businesses going out of business and leaving vacant storefronts to attract yet more bums hanging out under the eaves. There is a lot of garbage dumped in vacant lots or even on the street. The schools are shedding veteran teachers at a phenomenal rate, even if they aren't at full pension yet. They just want out from the Commie Core, the roving bands of supervisors with punch lists ready to give unsatisfactory ratings to perfectly good lessons because the teacher makes too much money and/or has tenure, etc. The stench of corruption from DeDumDum's doings could fell a herd of steers. He is the biggest bum of all. But I am far from impressed at those who have put their name forth so far for the next mayoral election. We are screwed as far as getting anyone even close to competent or honest, it seems.

Me too! And when I order on-line I make a “trial purchase” to see if the seller has to charge CA sales tax. If he does, I cancel the order and go elsewhere. And I’ve also given up using Amazon.

The people of NYC will love their tax hikes when their federal funds are yanked because of the schmuck’s sanctuary BS.

Not that they will... given the heavy burden, constant abuse, and loss of lifestyle their family is sustaining by Donald Trump’s presidency which I consider to be a sacrifice on his part and theirs
