Tens of thousands of residents fled Oroville, California, on Sunday after water levels surged over a spillway at the Oroville Dam. Traffic jams reigned on highways leading north from Oroville, where officials ordered people to evacuate at 4:45 p.m.
Oroville families, who made their way to the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds in Chico and other staging areas, face uncertainty in the coming days. By late Sunday night, water from Lake Oroville was no longer rushing over the top of the dams emergency spillway, thanks to efforts by California water authorities to increase the flow of water out of the reservoir. But the spillways sustained damage during Sundays flooding. Officials are attempting to measure that damage as they consider next steps.
The dam is solid, said Bill Croyle, acting director for the California state Department of Water Resources, during a press conference. The control structure has been damaged.
The problems started last Tuesday, when a hole opened up in the Oroville Dams primary spillway. The collapse in this main, concrete-lined spillway led authorities to take an unprecedented step by the end of the week, as heavy storms mounted. On Saturday, the state water agency opened up the dams emergency spillway for the first time ever. Its collapse would have sent a 30-foot wall of water crashing out of the lake reservoir, according to the Los Angeles Times. The emergency spillway, also described as the auxiliary spillway, is more or less a hill that drains down into the Feather River.

Well, Obama’s infrastructure plan was to take a $Trillion and spread it around to his cronies and ‘green’ companies [most of which went bankrupt already].
How many bridges, roads, dams, and similar infrastructure projects were accomplished from that $Trillion under Obama? Near zero.
Let’s wait and see what projects Trump develops. Give him some time. He has only been in office 3 weeks!
I guess that its repair wasn’t considered to be a ‘shovel ready job’ by bh0

This has to be a headline from the Onion. If you want to blame any President for this, maybe you could go back to Dubya. According to what I’ve read, the problem with the emergency spillway has been known since 2005, when three different groups in the area went to the state to request that something be done. Of course, the bozos in charge then didn’t think it would be a problem, and Governor Moonbeam is too busy funding his “Bullet Train to Nowhere” to care about things like infrastructure.
So, after years of drought with plenty of time to inspect and repair dams and other waterways, we get a rainy winter and the dams are ready to burst, threatening at least two cities (Oroville and Marysville) with catastrophic floods.
But, of course, it’s Trump’s fault. I expect Upchuck Schumer and Nancy Pug-ugly to be holding a news conference any day now to “strongly denounce” the inaction of the current administration. Not sure of the demographics of the area, but if it isn’t at least 95% white Americans, the Dems will be sure to pull out the race card, or the immigrant card, or whatever suits their purpose in getting their BFFs in the press to denigrate Republicans in general and Trump in particular. Never mind that this state’s government has been run lock, stock and barrel by the left for the last 20 years, courtesy of your friendly, neighborhood union thugs.
Maintenance and repairs to the dam could have easily been made years ago when the lake was empty. Pass it on...
From the article...
“But on the recommendation of state officials who balked at the cost of paving the emergency spillway, the feds tabled the matter...”
“Trump’s fault” is the intended takeaway from the headline.
Yeah, not a shovel-ready job, or not enough illegals to work on it.
Remember "The Streets of Rome are Too Dark"
President Trump’s infrastructure plans have NOTHING to do with the Oroville mess. THAT is all on the State of California.
It exposes socialist’s misplaced priorities/responsiblites in regards to anything they should be responsible/held accountable for.
The Political Approach
When a politician views society from the seclusion of his office, he is struck by the spectacle of the inequality that he sees. He deplores the deprivations which are the lot of so many of our brothers, deprivations which appear to be even sadder when contrasted with luxury and wealth.
Perhaps the politician should ask himself whether this state of affairs has not been caused by old conquests and lootings, and by more recent legal plunder. Perhaps he should consider this proposition: Since all persons seek well-being and perfection, would not a condition of justice be sufficient to cause the greatest efforts toward progress, and the greatest possible equality that is compatible with individual responsibility? Would not this be in accord with the concept of individual responsibility which God has willed in order that mankind may have the choice between vice and virtue, and the resulting punishment and reward?
But the politician never gives this a thought. His mind turns to organizations, combinations, and arrangements legal or apparently legal. He attempts to remedy the evil by increasing and perpetuating the very thing that caused the evil in the first place: legal plunder. We have seen that justice is a negative concept. Is there even one of these positive legal actions that does not contain the principle of plunder?

This article is a total waste of time: everybody already knows the Oroville disaster is President Trumps fault: CNN said so ...
Obama? California?
First of all Trump should not have to pay attention to a sanctuary state.
The Opinion Makers are opinionating. You know, they never surrender land in stewardtship service for conservation easement, they only troll at people who are responsible and liable owning those lands, while they themselves sit on the bylines as protestor-bureaucrats.
As Trotzky used to say, they are going Kibitzer mode, back seat driving and opinionating, attacking easily those who have liabilities while they themselves protect themselves from liability in their bureaucrat - protestor opinions.

So what if it burst? Toilets need to be flushed regularly anyway.
Trump's Fault!
