Piece is full of overblown hysteria. MSM likes to think of itself as heroic when standing up to Republicans, but they bend over and take it from Liberals, who literally get away with murder.

The last bit shows how much the media suffers from grandiosity, narcissism, and overinflated ego. They really do see themselves as heroic as police, firefighters, and military. They're patently insane:

...heroism is what’s called for. Hopefully there’s enough of it to go around.

Huh? Nothing really happened!

"heroism"

My God, they are full of themselves. It takes heroism to OPPOSE the MSM and their street thugs on a variety of issues: gay marriage, global warming, Trump, abortion, transgender bathrooms, Obama, the EU, BLM, illegal immigration (which they won't even call by its name), the United Nations, Brexit, and so forth.

Disagree with the MSM on any of those topics, and you will be pillaged. You might have protesters at your door, your life might be threatened, and you might lose your job or your business.

Nonsense. You will still be free to print your lies and distortions.

Expect to be called on it, however.

This is not journalism, this is the NY Times trying to stay in publication. There are basic rules for journalism. Here are a few:

Truth and Accuracy

Journalists cannot always guarantee ‘truth’, but getting the facts right is the cardinal principle of journalism. We should always strive for accuracy, give all the relevant facts we have and ensure that they have been checked. When we cannot corroborate information we should say so.

Independence

Journalists must be independent voices; we should not act, formally or informally, on behalf of special interests whether political, corporate or cultural. We should declare to our editors – or the audience – any of our political affiliations, financial arrangements or other personal information that might constitute a conflict of interest.

Fairness and Impartiality

Most stories have at least two sides. While there is no obligation to present every side in every piece, stories should be balanced and add context. Objectivity is not always possible, and may not always be desirable (in the face for example of brutality or inhumanity), but impartial reporting builds trust and confidence.

Humanity

Journalists should do no harm. What we publish or broadcast may be hurtful, but we should be aware of the impact of our words and images on the lives of others.

The media, especially the NY Times and Boston Globe, owned by the Times, have been losing readers for a long time and are scared to death Trump with his culling of lying news(?) organizations is going to hammer them for it. I am especially disappointed in the other media for buying into this term “fake news” to give it a new name for its intent. In my youth, we just called it what it was, a blatant lie. And Trump is treating it like he should: if you can’t tell the truth as a recognized news entity, then I’m telling you nothing and not giving you a chance to create your lying scenarios by allowing you to pose your questions. I call it extermination by ignoring. Either play by the rules of journalism, or sit on the bench until you are released.

What a bunch of trash, from Pravda on the Hudson.

During Obama’s term, the LameStreamMedia gleefully censored themselves, and not out of fear of being attacked by Obama and his press team, but to willingly serve them, to get the story out to best serve Obama.

Now, Trump, quite aware of that, knows the media is now operating as the virtual state media for the shadow government of the former president whom they served so well.

He has to acknowledge that and treat them accordingly.

Today’s fake news: criticism of the media is really censorship and we are being oppressed.

The censorship started once the media decided to become political players, which goes back at least 100 years.

It was self-censorship, but when it’s all in one direction, what is the difference?

A separate thread here pointed to 4 suspicious deaths of people IN 6 WEEKS (last summer) with very close associations with the Democrat leadership...but did the media have any interest in these deaths? Do I need to answer that question?
