Piece is full of overblown hysteria. MSM likes to think of itself as heroic when standing up to Republicans, but they bend over and take it from Liberals, who literally get away with murder.

The last bit shows how much the media suffers from grandiosity, narcissism, and overinflated ego. They really do see themselves as heroic as police, firefighters, and military. They're patently insane:

...heroism is what’s called for. Hopefully there’s enough of it to go around.

Huh? Nothing really happened!

More fake news. Their “heroism” consists of advancing the “progressive” agenda.

They run no risks, except the continueing and well deserved downslide of the establishment media to the dusbin of history.

[This is how the muzzling starts: not with a boot on your neck, but with the fear of one that runs so deep that you muzzle yourself.]

BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE:

PSALM 7:14
14 The wicked conceive evil; they are pregnant with trouble and give birth to lies. 15 They dig a deep pit to trap others, then fall into it themselves. 16 The trouble they make for others backfires on them. The violence they plan falls on their own heads.

The realization is existential when you learn you aren’t

how much journalism and investigative work is self-censored to avoid being called “racist”, “sexist”, “homophobic” or “xenophobic”? Of course, censorship by the howling mobs of leftists, all of which is supported by the NYT, is AOK.

Of course they are afraid.

They have a right to free speech.

They do not have a right to credibility, a right to access to the White House, or a right to have people believe them.

They have to earn those things, and they aren’t.

In the old broadcast world their value was access which gave them power. The internet has done away with that - everyone has direct access.

The only value they have left to offer is credibility, and they’re blowing it due to their political bias.

In the long run the MSM is toast, and Trump knows this better than anyone.

Sort of like how the left uses political correctness to demonize conservatives by calling them names.

Or how about College campuses shutting down any speaker they don’t agree with.

Slimes: And [Lamar Smith] ended with an admonition for his constituents: “Better to get your news directly from the president. In fact, it might be the only way to get the unvarnished truth.”

The slimes then notes that the owner of San Antonio KLRN pulled a commentary that would have complained

“Smith’s proposal is quite innovative for America,” it went. “We’ve never really tried getting all our news from our top elected official. It has been tried elsewhere, however. North Korea comes to mind.”

Now of course the Smith comment was hardly in favor of establishing a Goebbels like propaganda ministry. It was simply as statement that the statements of the slimes-stream-media are so over the top that the only reliable source about what the president is going to do is what he says he is going to do.

Maybe one can do nothing about the liars in the press, short of bringing libel suits for calling gorgeous wives of conservatives hookers, but that doesn't mean one should not start developing a habit of closing one's ears to the ravings of liars and propagandists.

Jim Rutenberg’s a professional victim - playing the pity party rag.

What's the truth? Which teams are the powerful thugs and which team are standing with the people?

Jim Rutenberg stands with the people of The New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times and every other major newspaper in the United States. And they stand with him. Hollywood stands with him - the folks who make the movies - the folks who feed TV shows into our living rooms.

There's ONE radio network that hits every market in the United States - from the smallest Podunk to NYC... AND it's supported by taxpayers and serves ONLY ONE PARTY. NPR stands with him. PBS stands with him. The Democrat Party is his partner and main source. In short - ALL Cultural BIGS stand with Jim Rutenberg. Even Wall Street... Yes, the big bankers stand with Him - and the "Sports' networks and owners. AND ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN.... Jim's not a victim - he 'in' with elite thugs. He has his boot grinding into our faces.

Now, who stands with Trump? "Some" people in the Republican Party... not all. Less than half of FoxNews... And the half of the American Population that's powerless in this culture.

Seems the New York Times - a group that buys ink by the trainload - is angry Trump can get his word out to his supporters WITHOUT having to go through him - and the other ‘bigs’ in the culture who hate Trump - and hate the people who elected him

(The press thought they could bully Trump into turning his back on the people who elected him (like they've don't with so many Republicans who were elected before Trump), but they failed. Trump's standing up to the thugs... he's standing up to the ‘elite’ culture and he's gonna drain the swamp.)

That was the headline that the NYT used? I seriously doubt it. Excerpts should be posted with the original headline, and your version should appear in parentheses after it.

I like the thought - they tried to instill fear, via PC ideology and fake news, for a long time - love the image of them looking over their own shoulders for a change.

Why do they not hear the message Trump is telling them:

You and do a better job than what you are doing now. There are higher standards for journalism and I am going to hold you to them.

Hey Ny Slimes, just publish the truth instead of fake news and stuff that isn't even news like opiniong posing as news.

Your days of lying and taking down elected officials with your lies and fake news are over.

We don’t need the “old gotcha” press conferences. With the whining and lying liberal mediots attacking our president. We are tired of the mediots lying and telling us what to believe and how to vote! Ban them from the White House. Trump’s comments and statements are for his voters. We don’t need lying liberal mediots to tell us what he says to us.

Official Washington is being traumatized by the tweets of Donald Trump.

Politico has chronicled the pearl clutching concern by the inside the beltway types over Trump's tweets. Trump speaking directly to the people via Twitter is causing a crisis among mediots, politicians and lobbyists. They just don't know how to handle it as the article title, “Trump’s Twitter feed traumatizes Washington.”

From a another post yesterday on FR:

"......former United Nations ambassador John Bolton blasted NBC’s Chuck Todd for taking to Twitter on Thursday to attack President Trump’s “un-American” criticism of the media during a press conference: “I thought that tweet was one of the most foolish things I've seen from the media in a long time, and you know, that's a pretty low bar there. The media is not entitled to worship.....It's not entitled to respect as an institution. It’s not entitled to deference by political leaders. It is entitled under the First Amendment to say what it wants to say. That’s it...."

Trump and his White House are not going to go along to get along with the media. Trump is going to deal with these liberal wing nut reporters (and their Leftist networks) for who they really are, wannabe celebrities with inflated views of their own self-importance who many times think and act like the news is about them, instead of the story they are supposed to be covering.

Trump will alter the way the press has always dealt with in the WH and he will change the rules so they play by his game, not theirs.

How refreshing it is for a president to fight back for a change.

As a retired practitioner of journalism (advertising), I can tell you that the burden of claims substantiation had to be met before an advertisement was released to the intended audience.

Having had exposure to the news-editorial side as well, I can also say that no such burden appears to exist on the 'news' side.

In my opinion, an irresponsible 'free' press is no free press at all, it is merely unsubstantiated advertising hiding under the protection of the 1st Amendment.

Remember when Obama floated the idea of placing "monitors" in the nation's newsrooms to evaluate the process by which stories are selected, shaped, and presented?

As for Trump, he can say what he likes about the press. If they change their approach as a result - which I doubt they will - that is THEIR CHOICE.
