A bet .... China lies
In this instance, I doubt it. N Korea has very openly dissed China multiple times over the last few years. But terminating a man who was known to be under Beijing’s protection, in such a public and dramatic manner, is an insult that China can’t let pass without losing face. I think North Korea has finally gone too far.
China has good reason to actually cut off NK. KJN was a good friend.
