Yep, assigned risk is expensive. I guess my view is that this couple didn't do anything wrong, they played by the rules, got hosed over by the ACA and have been "punished" already and are hardly in a position to take another hit. She's been in a wheel chair for almost 3 years, going to dozens of office visits, the kind of stuff you see when that happens, just hate to see the kind of premiums they'd probably see in a pool.
The accident wasn't planned, just one of those life things; not self inflicted but part of life. The insurance mess they've been put it was entirely man made.

I agree that the government is at fault for their problems. I also think that no matter what happens, nobody has the money to sue the government to make their case.
Under the old system, their health care would not have been able to drop them, so the same would be the case with the repeal of ObamaCare. Some health insurance company is carrying them now. That someone, no matter who it is, has a legal obligation, as I understand it, under the 1996 law.
