(CNN)President Donald Trump wants to pass an immigration reform bill that could grant legal status to millions of undocumented immigrants living in the US.
"The time is right for an immigration bill as long as there is compromise on both sides," Trump told reporters Tuesday at the White House.
The President is eager to pass a compromise immigration bill in his first term that would stop short of granting a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants, but would allow undocumented immigrants who aren't serious or violent criminals to live, work and pay taxes in the US without fear of deportation, a senior administration official said. And Trump is now considering adding the topic to his speech Tuesday night before his address to a joint session of Congress.
A path to citizenship for those in the country illegally would not be part of Trump's vision for this deal, with the possible exception of "Dreamers" -- those brought into the US illegally as children.
News of the President's support for a comprehensive reform of the US's immigration system fell against a backdrop of increasingly aggressive actions by immigration authorities across the US, who under Trump's administration have found new freedom to deport undocumented immigrants who have not been convicted of a serious crime -- the bar they were told to abide by under President Barack Obama's tenure.

No suprise. Hope Trump is ready to kiss his base goodbye. He will be crushed in 2020. His base wont turn out again for him and all demoncrats and hispanics will still vote against him even after he grants amnesty.

This is from cnn’s Jake Tapper, Wolf Blitzer and Tal Kopan. These guys are not to be trusted. I recommend you wait and see what Trump himself has to say tonight. How many times have they said Trump is softening his position, only to hear him reiterate the next day exactly what he has said in the past?
This is exactly what CNN wants to achieve with this kind of BS story...

Depending on the details, I could be unhappy or VERY unhappy. Or this could just be fake news.
He wasn’t supported and elected so he could push amnesty. But, there has always been doubts about him on immigration.
AMNESTY. This will make President Trump a one-term president and no better liked by anyone. Incredibly stupid move and makes a lie of his Day One promise to revoke Obama’s amnesty. I sure hope this is not true as it is a lie I will not soon forget.
I don’t think anchor babies should be allowed anymore. No more. Make it harder for them to stay here for now on. It’s ridiculous, and I want our border secured. What to do about the ones in the country, been here for awhile, who aren’t causing trouble...I don’t know. I’m interested in what ideas he has.

It’s only a willful mis-interpretation of the 14th Amendment that has created the anchor baby. Even if Trump appoints a couple or three Justices to the Supreme Court, who knows it its safe to bring a case before them?
