Franken Calls for Special Prosecutor: 'Need to See' Trump's Tax Returns

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) is not immediately calling for Attorney General Jeff Sessions' resignation following a Washington Post report [1] that Sessions, while serving as a Trump campaign adviser, failed to disclose his two contacts with the Russian ambassador to the U.S.

Instead, Franken wants Sessions to recuse himself from all Russia-Trump investigations; he wants the investigation turned over to an independent prosecutor; and he very much wants a look at Donald Trump's tax returns.

Speaking to MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Thursday, Franken said Sessions was inaccurate when he told Franken at his Jan. 10 confirmation hearing, "I did not have communications with the Russians."

Sessions met with the Russian ambassador once in September in his Senate office; and he spoke to the same ambassador (and others) in July, at an event sponsored by the Heritage Foundation.

So, what is their obsession with tax returns? Is there a requirement for them to be made public? I got a better idea. Folks in Minnesota should call for franken's resignation for failure to represent them.

The tax return issue is nonsense. The voters had an opportunity to object, but they decided that they didn’t care. Since there is no legal obligation, this is just agitation. Ignore Freaky Franken, as we always have.

I would like to know the specific question that Franken asked. A whole lot of innuendo with not much substance. We need context.

Al Franken is a perfect example of how voter fraud affects elections.

I never understood why the voters of Minnesota insist on electing New Yorkers to represent them. I guess the well ran dry when home-grown politicians like Walter Mondale turned out to be such losers.

Since Fauxcahontas is rapidly becoming irrelevant Franken apparently thinks he can position himself to be the latest "knight on a white horse" to save his deteriorating Democrat/Left Party.

Look for diaper-boy to become even more shrill over the next few weeks ... until he, again, dissolves into obscurity.

I find it odd that Al Franken is the one the democRats put out there to lead the charge as top bomb thrower - he was virtually silent for his first 8 years in the senate.

Did Franken ever come clean with the taxes he withheld from his employees but never forwarded when he had his stupid radio show nobody listened to?

Actually I want an Independent Investigator to investigate how Franken won his 1st election.

Sen Fraud lost the election but then magically his party found enough votes in the precincts they controlled during the recount to over turn the results.

Talking to Russians is bad?

What about taking bribe money from Chinese?

Vice President Al Gore, Democrat, was caught, CAUGHT, with a suitcase full of cash from the Chinese government.

The Democrat Vice President was CAUGHT with a BRIBE.

These Democrats can go suck eggs.

Much like Obamacare, Dems want us to open up Trump’s tax returns so we can see what’s in it.

Not that there is any evidence of any improper activity to trigger a need to see the returns. We need to see the returns to learn if there is any evidence of inappropriate behavior that would give us the right to demand to see his tax returns. Got it?

I honestly believe that at least 50% democrats actually think that if they get to see his tax returns, they are going to immediately look for the line on the 1040 that says:"

77. Please list all bribes you received from Putin: _________.00
