He revealed last week the FBI is investigating Russian meddling in the election
FBI director James Comey wanted to go public with information about Russia's interference in the 2016 election as early as last summer but was reportedly barred from doing so by the Obama administration.
Former Secretary of State John Kerry, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and ex national security adviser Susan Rice were among those in the meeting.
Comey's idea was rejected because White House officials thought the message would have more impact coming from multiple agencies and not just him.
'An op-ed doesn't have the same stature, it comes from one person,' the source said.
According to Newsweek sources, Comey presented a draft op-ed to top administration officials during a White House meeting in June or July.
'He had a draft of it or an outline,' the source said. 'He held up a piece of paper in a meeting and said, 'I want to go forward, what do people think of this?''

My guess is that they found that Hillary was more implicit than Trump and they all assumed that she would win and that they would then want this stuff to go away.
Comey is corrupt. He gave Sandy Berger a slap on the wrist for stealing documents out of the National Archives during the 9/11 Commission. He only cares about the Washington D.C. Establishment.
Using generic, non-specific action verbs is lawyer-esk weaseldom where the only purpose is to paint an image in the listeners mind. Even though that picture totally false that is intentionally projected.
Later this installed false image becomes a false memory that the listener will defend to the death.

The “meddling” was the publication of the Podesta files. Had they made the allegation, they would have had to back it up while disclosing the info was prima facia evidence of felonies committed by the administration and the DNC.
Funny that after all this time - they STILL can’t/won’t say just HOW the Russians ‘meddled’...

Same reaction here - big allegations but provide definitions. To me ‘interfering’ could mean a very broad scale of things. And, I’d assume there’s many countries seeking to influence outcomes, it’s what they do - hell, it’s what the USA does.
As if our own government hasn’t “meddled” in foreign elections and actually deposing foreign governments, either legitimately elected or they legitimately stole their positions. Ask President Arbenz of Guatemala (oh, he’s dead); Ask President Allende of Chile (oh, he’s dead); ask the Diem brothers in South Vietnam (oh, they’re dead); ask Saddam Hussein and his non-existent weapons of mass destruction (oh, he’s dead); ask Moammar Qaddhafi (oh, he’s dead); ask Mohammed Mossadegh, PM of Iran in 1953 (oh, he’s dead); ask Moishe Tshombe in Katanga Province of the Congo (oh, he’s dead). Ask the Communists in Portugal and Italy who were on their way to winning parliamentary elections until the CIA conducted a disinformation campaign. I’m not saying that some of these interventions were not justified, only that the “meddling” by the US went far beyond whatever it is that the Russians are accused of and which the bozos in the Senate and the lib Dems in the House seem to be in a tizzy over. There’s a bit too much of “do as I say and not as I do” here.
