The installation of water fountains beneath their trees of course had nothing to do with the change in behavior and level of water consumption. Likewise, after thousands of years of relative sobriety the sudden availability of hard liquor had nothing to do with Native Americans becoming alcoholics. It was in fact evidence of nineteenth century white European caused global warming making the poor innocents extra thirsty.

The referenced National Geographic article politically ignores that koala bears not only eat the leaves of eucalyptus trees, but that the leaves produce a highly combustible oil that is infamous for starting forest fires.

So it’s no wonder that koala bears get thirsty at times.
