President Donald Trump has told some members of Congress that he is considering military action in Syria in retaliation for this week's chemical attack, and recognizes the seriousness of the situation, a source familiar with the calls tells CNN.

The source said the President had not firmly decided to go ahead with it but said he was discussing possible actions with Defense Secretary James Mattis.

Trump is relying on the judgment of Mattis, according to the source.

US officials tell CNN the Pentagon has long-standing options to strike Syria's chemical weapons capability and has presented those options to the administration.

The sources stressed a decision has not been made.

Starting WW3 with Russia when you have 2% popular support for the idea back home, seems somewhat stupid.

I just hope we determine who is really at fault before we act. It seems more likely that the chemicals were in the weapons facility than on the aircraft, and the rebels have already been proven to have staged chemical attacks to get help with Assad.

It’s amazing how well Trump is doing in this poll - considering it’s right in the middle of an 80 percent communistic progressive ultra- liberal San Francisco area leftist bastion - (please see upper right corner of webpage) -—— http://www.smdailyjournal.com/

Please do not get us involved there. That is not going to go over well with Americans who are tired dealing with overseas action only to have the dems come in a few years later and destroy everything accomplished. Let the Russians deal with that mess.

Assad is winning, ISIS is being decimated, and presto magico, Assad supposedly uses WMD against children. If you believe that, as Chauncey Trump seems to, join the club of morons.

"Syria likely responsible for chemical attack condemned by President Trump" "U.S. radar showed Syrian warplanes in the vicinity of the ... weapons facility operated by terrorists was struck by a bomb."

So Assad was supposed to allow those weapons be used against his people????

No, just no. Keep us out of that mess.

This whole “Gas Attack” just looks really fishy to me..with ISIS controlling the majority of Syria how do we know they did not do it..and look at the video of people walking around “Helping” the ill, they are not wearing any protective clothing or masks..one drop of this type of gas and you are dead yet they walk around freely with no special clothing on..President Trump has to make sure there really was a chemical weapons attack and that Assad ordered it before he falls for Fake News

Or they could build a wall at the Southern Border and help make my neighborhood great again. I don’t care who kills each other in dirtbox third world dives. I don’t care one bit who gassed or didn’t gas who. *shrug*

Wait, let me check again,.......nope. Still don’t care!

“If you believe that, as Chauncey Trump seems to, join the club of morons.”

You anti-Trump comment is noted. Your access to Trump to know what he believes is???

Trump’s not going to reveal any action he may or may not take till after the fact. Until then, projecting what we think Trump believes is no better than the progressives who employ this tactic all day every day.

Now isn't this a lot better than that silly stuff about Rice spying on Trump? /sarc

Rice gets caught red handed and the Saudis pets stage a chemical attack to blame on Assad. How convenient.

Exactly my thinking. Trump needs to resist the cry of the warriors who want to jump at the chance to get involved with that mess and possibly trigger a confrontation with the Russians. President Trump should back off and take the time to confirm conclusively that the Syrians actually did what they are accused of doing.
