Saw a billboard advertising a show he was performing late September while driving past the stadium in Foxboro MA.
I knew the guy was pushing 90 and was absolutely amazed that he was still working it.
Really wanted to see it but as usual short on cash...
RIP Mr. Rickles you were a true legend.

One of the funniest Rickles scenes gets replayed over and over as classic comedy.
Johnny Carson is lying half-naked on a massage table.
Rickles walks onto the set and grabs Johnny in a bear hug, blubbering, “Gimme a break, I’m so lonely.”

Great talent.
Probably who inspired Joan Rivers.
Two greats gone.

Search his relationship with the President. They’ve had quite the batter through the years.

Rickles, pointing to Johnny Carson: “I’m Jewish, Ed’s Irish, and here we have....what?”

****He would not be able to exist in todays climate.****
He would have changed the climate and we would be laughing with one another.
God is now getting a Rickles’ ribbing and loving it.
RIP Don

I can imagine a few good comedians having a good time telling jokes about him. Uncensored jokes too!

I had just looked up his Wikipedia entry about two weeks ago.
It was great to hear he was still around, but they mentioned his kidney issues, then, too.

If this isnt a great line from Don..... listening snowflakes! “You know, every night when I go out on stage, there’s always one nagging fear in the back of my mind. I’m always afraid that somewhere out there, there is one person in the audience that I’m *not* going to offend!”

Besides his comedy career, it should be noted that Rickles served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WW2 as a seaman first class (USS Cyrene)

I had never heard that before but found the story here.

Perhaps some context would have helped. Nevertheless, Rickles and Newhart remained best friends even to vacationing together all around the world.
The quip you quoted would be something I could well imagine Rickles saying. His night club acts were not a brand of humor I appreciated which is why the friendship always struck me as somewhat strange and worthy of note on this thread.

90 years of insulting people and he still dies of old age instead of being killed by somebody.
That’s a pretty good run.
The guy was golden and his humor is now extinct.
PC destroys all joy.
