Back to Videos Secretary Of State: U.S. Policy Is To Have Assad Leave Peacefully "Through A Political Process" Posted By Tim Hains On Date April 6, 2017
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Thursday that the U.S. seeks to remove Bashar Assad as Syria's president through "a political process," not through war despite reports to the contrary.
"The process by which Assad would leave is something that I think requires an international community effort, both to first defeat ISIS within Syria, to stabilize the Syrian country, to avoid further civil war, and then to work collectively with our partners around the world through a political process that would lead to Assad leaving," Tillerson said.
"Those steps are underway," he added.

Nation building? Really? Good God!
Are we going to screw up again? At least Assad is fighting ISIS. Too bad we decided to help the rebels and add to the "losses".
etly...Big Stick....comes to mind.
Hope Europe is ready for even more “Syrian Refugees”.
I’ve listened to Assad being interviewed several times. Each time he impresses me as a soft-spoken, honest person who loves his country and his people.
I am well aware of what people call him and accuse him of. I simply do not see it, at all.
But I do see the nefarious deep state CIA (not the good ones) fomenting lots of lies, agitation, discord, framing, in hopes of more war. Satan’s Lieutenants at busy at work.
In a North Korean washcloth type of way?
This is at the least a Tillerson clarification...or most...a Trump capitulation to the twitter patrol....lol
“Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Thursday that the U.S. seeks to remove Bashar Assad as Syria’s president through “a political process,” not through war despite reports to the contrary.”
I have heard this song before.
I’m not worried about war. I am worried about the veracity of the intelligence product.
Tillerson said there was no doubt that Assad was behind the sarin gas attacks.
There have been over 50 such attacks in the past many decades. Each time, the attacks were attributed to others, not the Hassad family.
Seymour Hersh has followed these attacks and the politics of what’s behind them and how others have tried to pin the blame on the Hassad family.
Tillerson needs to make the case of why he is so sure it is Hassad behind these attacks.
The Saudis want a pipeline through Syria into Europe. The Russians do not want the Saudis on their turf.
The Hassad family has sided with the Russians because of the duplicity of the Saudis.
Tillerson needs to make clear how he arrived at his determination. He may be getting altered intelligence from the deep state. In any case, he needs to establish his command of the situation.
Tillerson as a former oil executive would be expected to side with the Saudis. He needs to make the case that he has no conflict of interest.
I don’t trust the Saudis at all. I don’t want our government to help them expand their markets into Europe.
The USA is now exporting domestically produced oil. A headline today shows China is lining up to be the biggest US customer. The US can also supply oil and gas to Europe in competition with the Saudis because of logistical costs of Saudi oil through the Suez canal. The Egyptians are not friendly to Saudis in regards to oil.

OK - so Assad leaves peacefully or not - how will Syria be governed and how will the Syrian military be handled?? It is a sovereign nation and a member of the UN.
The Sec. of State says the people of Syria will determine their future - how will that happen?
so many questions, and no answers.
This could end up worse than Obama’s Libya.
Muslim countries do not have elections. They have coups.
And rarely are they peaceful. Once a Maximum Leader gains control, it is only wrested from his cold, dead hands. The difference lay in HOW he died.
I think you are correct, but...... he is his father’s son
Lets see here
Jimmy Carter forced the Shah of Iran to leave peacefully and that one did not work out so well
Jimmy Carter forced Rhodesia to transfer power to peacefully to Robert (one man,one vote, one time) Mugabe and that one did not work out so well either
Don’t get me started on South Africa
George Bush forced out Saddam and the guys he put in place did not work out so well either.
Obama forced out Egypt’s leader President Mubarak and replaced him with Mohammed Morsi - a disaster that brought Egypt to brink of economic collapse
Well, Libya speaks for itself.
Iraq is an Obama created train wreck.
Syria is already an Obama Created train wreck that can only get worse without Assad unless the US comes in and stays in Syria for 50 years to stabilize the country.
