Trumps tomahawk missile strike in Syria has most commentators agreeing that its an international game changer, sending a message to bad actors from the Middle East to North Korea: theres a new sheriff in town and the American superpower is back. What is missing from these analyses is a recognition of the strikes repercussions domestically. For the Syrian strike is also a game changer for President Trump, who until now has been the target of unprecedented and unhinged political attacks.
The Syrian strike blows up the central myth of the Democrats resistance to the Trump presidency. This is the accusation that Americas new commander-in-chief is a pawn in Putins pocket, a closet colluder with the Russian beast. The accusation always had a lunatic ring but since it was based on speculation about what Trump might do, it was difficult to definitively refute. Not anymore. The strike in Syria has blown it as sky high as the debris from the Syrian aircraft the tomahawks destroyed. Henceforth, Trumps critics are more likely to warn of an imminent war with Russia than an imminent capitulation to Putins whims.

I can’t address all the disagreeable premises at that link now.
There’s a fact we’re seeing play out on FR: If this continues, Trump will lose around half of his 52% voting bloc. When he hits 20-30% approval ratings, good bye agenda, good bye 2019 Senate 60+ GOP, good bye 2020.
Freepers can call this pearl-clutching all they want. But that doesn’t persuade half his supporters not to bolt.
Amen , piss on McDemocRat... He needs his face time ..
You can forget that, after WWII we executed Japanese intelligence officers for water-boarding captured US airmen. What are the odds anyone is going to back down on that?
Rove..who now has someone in the WH via that communications guy.. ...says Three sides have been leaking for weeks. Some of us figured that out while most continue to say fake news.
Rove commended Gary Cohn....ugh...lib faction associated with jared
Yup - Trump gained the Hillary wing of the GOP but lost his base
His base is going to require real results before supporting Trump
again.
I agree.
I suspect he will he the downfall unless trump starts listening to bannon and others.
Mcmaster is not to be trusted. he doesnt even like the words radical islam
Or, are McCain, Pelosi, Graham, and the rest of those scum not the people Horowitz thinks have been having the paranoid fantasies they've all blabbered about to any camera they could find to get in front of or is Horowitz thinking about, I don't know, Romney for example?
One thing I know for sure, the young folks around here walking around with a near perfect vacuum between their ears are NeverTrumpers and will be even if Trump starts wearing pantsuits from Hillary's favorite high price designer and preaching the Bernie BS.
So, just who does Horowitz have in mind? Yes, I read the article, I just don't see how Horowitz or anyone else believes the NeverTrump crowd is going to move an inch. A lot of people who were marginally anti-Trump, or who sat at home, may, but the NeverTrump crowd?
On the long, long list of atrocities committed by the Japanese against civilians and allied forces waterboarding isn’t even a blip.
Can’t find any evidence that supports your claim of executions for waterboarding. If you have it, post it, as many did far worse and escaped the hangmans’s noose.
What's the matter, you can't use a search engine? Too complicated and too much more difficult than calling someone a liar?
There are a LOT more links including the Japanese War Crime Tribunal documents themselves. In addition, in 1968 a US soldier in VN was photographed doing about the same thing as water-boarding to a captured VC. He was found, tried for war crimes, spent several years in prison and received a dishonorable discharge.
So, split a few hairs over what constitutes water-boarding and what is water torture, what someone did in addition to water-boarding, and so on. I'd expect nothing less from someone who doesn't give a damn anyway.
Fighting animals doesn't require sinking to their level, just killing them outright anywhere you find them and calling a spade a spade. That's calling torture torture and Muzzie jihadists Muzzie jihadists.
LS’s thoughtful post you linked to is something I think every Freeper should read.
So is this one by Jim Robinson: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3542635/posts

I thank God every day for President Trump and pray for his continuing success. Had Trump not entered the race, the GOPe would have delivered the nomination to Jeb Bush and then Her Royal Heinous Hillary would be sitting in the White House today.
Those who think that doesn’t make any difference whatsoever are perfectly free to post somewhere else.
God bless President Trump.
God bless America.
Yes I am still thankful the evil Hillary lost but now skeptical that Trump represents substantial reform.
That truth bears repeating.....
“Russia is too broke to go to war.”
What’s more, We lack the military where with all to go to real war. I’’s 1941 in America
North Korea is a threat to us and everyone else including the Russians and Chinese. Syria isn't a threat to us and we have no national interest at stake there. Some of our want us to think we have to be involved as world policeman, but doing anything that helps Al-Qaeda and ISIS doesn't make any sense even if it makes an ally happy.
Doing anything that strengthens Turkey doesn't make any sense to me either and taking down Assad helps the Turks more than anyone else except the butchers so many people in government claim are really moderate rebels who only butcher people for YouTube videos because they're misunderstood.
I'd be happy if Trump took down NK and could understand the diversion in that case, but I don't really see how you hide going after NK.
LS disagrees with you about McMaster:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3542689/posts
“3. McMaster. I vouched for McMaster as did Victor Davis Hanson. McMaster is one of the few people in the Pentagon with actual hands-on success at forming alliances with Muslims against other Muslims. He was a rebel throughout the Iraq war, which kept him from being promoted. He’s exactly the type of outside-the-box thinker you want. I’m NOT concerned about his early comments on “radicals” being a minority. Folks, you will not find any commanders in the field, anywhere, saying all Muslims are terrorists. Won’t happen, cuz they need locals as interpreters and most of the time as allies. Maybe personally they have different thoughts, but they cannot express those in a combat zone. I think McM’s comments were typical of that battlefield thinking. “
LS has a lot of credibility on Free Republic.
Reading it involves, well, reading it so why you’re. Moms ting on even what I placed in quotes while misrepresenting it is just not truthful
Whatever hepppened and whatever trump said on the campaign and didn’t deliver on not withstanding, what Horowitz says is Americans will judge and never trumpets will be more ignored. So either read it or continue to comment on what you think it says but I won’t. Be responding
Yes, Syria is a threat to us, right here on our own soil.
http://www.illegalaliencrimereport.com/?s=syria
All these so called refugees are a threat to every country they’ve been shipped to
As time goes by if he's an exception that should become apparent and I'll change my mind.
It's like some people who really liked Cruz but he's a Harvard/Princeton guy which is a huge red flag to me no matter what someone says in front of the TV cameras.
Time will tell.
Regards
If we can build a wall because too many people from, literally sometimes, across the street are coming here we can sure keep people from Syria or any other country out.
Seems like apples and oranges to me since those who are here from Syria had the red carpet rolled out for them by the Obama crew, not due to any right they have to be here.
