A Game Changer For Syria – But Also For Trump
FRONTPAGE ^ | 10 Apr 17 | David Horowitz

Posted on 04/10/2017 1:01:10 AM PDT by elhombrelibre

Trump’s tomahawk missile strike in Syria has most commentators agreeing that it’s an international game changer, sending a message to bad actors from the Middle East to North Korea: there’s “a new sheriff in town” and the American superpower is back. What is missing from these analyses is a recognition of the strike’s repercussions domestically. For the Syrian strike is also a game changer for President Trump, who until now has been the target of unprecedented and unhinged political attacks.

The Syrian strike blows up the central myth of the Democrats’ resistance to the Trump presidency. This is the accusation that America’s new commander-in-chief is a pawn in Putin’s pocket, a closet colluder with the Russian beast. The accusation always had a lunatic ring but since it was based on speculation about what Trump might do, it was difficult to definitively refute. Not anymore. The strike in Syria has blown it as sky high as the debris from the Syrian aircraft the tomahawks destroyed. Henceforth, Trump’s critics are more likely to warn of an imminent war with Russia than an imminent capitulation to Putin’s whims.

I don't see them being diminished a bit by this or anything else when they're in one place saying Trump hitting syria is great and then in three even more loudly still harping on the same old BS plus new garbage.

Fine with me whatever Horowitz says, I'll see if he's right when they start to fade away.

He always said that he was going to be the President for everyone, just as he said that he would repeal & replace Obamacare. You are not going to get everything your way.

They have missiles that work and within range of those missiles are a significant number of important US military bases. Close all those bases and, no, then they're no threat to us.

Until that time if they're near to marrying a nuclear warhead to those missiles I think they're a threat to a great many US military and civilian personnel at those bases as well as to Japan and South Korea.

Unless and until we tell those two countries to worry about the problem themselves and pull out of those countries and others in the area I don't understand why they're not a threat.

So, we disagree.

Yes, isolationism worked out so well in the 1930s that we must do it again.

False dilemma and a typical neocon lie.

“Yes I am still thankful the evil Hillary lost but now skeptical that Trump represents substantial reform.”

I disagree regarding “reform”. President Trump got us out of the TPP nonsense. His administration is dismantling the EPA’s regs on almost a weekly basis. He’s signed into law the overturning of numerous Obama rules & such that Congress has sent him. He’s sent a poignant message to the world that the era of weakness is over. He nominated a solid justice who’s been confirmed & is now on the Supreme Court.

All that & more despite all the obstacles the RATs & the rest of the Swamp have continuously placed in his way in less than 100 days. From where I sit President Trump is doing a great job for a man who’s never been a politician.

"Yep, and Russia has taken a war stance" By sending an aging frigate to "intimidate" 2 state-of-the- art US destroyers onsite. Better a weak gesture than no gesture, I suppose. But it did get the US media to go into fetal position because Russia was sending "a warship"!!!

Trump has so far done a great job, better than any politician would have. That's why I worry about him getting entangled the exact same way Bush did, by getting tied up in the ME.

Everyone in that part of the world who claims they're our ally or who comes to our aid at the outset of something is always, without fail, playing a double game that subverts our goals and furthers theirs.

“That’s why I worry about him getting entangled the exact same way Bush did, by getting tied up in the ME.”

It’s a valid concern though I don’t share it. I trust President Trump to do what he believes is in the best interest of America & not the elites. There may be times when what’s best for America intersects with what the elites want though I expect those instances to be few & far between.

I've given that intersection some thought myself and were it three or four months from now when the cabinet and other people around Trump were settled in and we could sort of take their measure I'd probably agree that there's at least a good chance this is one of those occasiomns.

I thought I’d read that the Russian frigate was on a schedule trip, and didn’t represent a response to the Syrian bombings.

LOL! No worries here. I am not now nor will I ever be a member of the spelling police.

Hope you have a great day. Peace :)

Yay, I really wanted the John McCain/Lindsey Graham/Hillary Clinton foreign policy for Syria.

That's clearly not what this is, despite your abject hysteria...

When neocons say “Trump’s bombing destroys the Trump-Russia connection argument”, they are conceding that they actually care enough about Democrat lies to kill people, destroy assets used to fight al queda, spend precious American weapons, and risk war with an ally against Islamic terrorism.

How about when normal people say it?

You're hysterical...
