Posted on 04/12/2017 8:40:39 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Despite speculations to the contrary, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Some observers claimed this wouldn’t happen due to the tension between the two nations.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin is meeting US Secretary of State Tillerson and Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov at the Kremlin,” presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday evening.

Peskov did not elaborate on what the three discussed. Earlier in the day, Tillerson held a meeting with Sergey Lavrov.

Chris Wallace gave his instant analysis right after the joint press conference. Wallace said that Tillerson was too weak and Lavrov dominated the press conference. He thought Tillerson should have been more confrontational. Immediately after the Wallace interview, a Dem hack came on saying the same thing. Tillerson (and Trump) are too weak vis a vis Russia.

We will hear this same analysis from the Dems and the MSM tonight. The insinuation is that Russia and Trump are in cahoots with one another and that Trump is not tough enough to confront the Russians. I guess the Dems won't be happy until we have a shooting war with Russia. This is the only payback tough enough to punish them for interfering in our elections and hacking the DNC and Podesta computers.

Of course Putins going to support Assad because of his own national interests in Syria. That’s understandable as Syria is one of his closest partners. But its a stretch to say Putin supports anyone there using chemical attacks....that’s just a fact understood by all leaders worldwide....the only ones who have no concern are the terrorists...who always use these when they are loosing a battle ground.

Yes, from Trumps perspective and his followers it is a new approach....because Putins now dealing with a new administration...and as of today, and despite the attack, all channels of communication are open and that’s a win!.

.....”Chris Wallace gave his instant analysis right after the joint press conference. Wallace said that Tillerson was too weak and Lavrov dominated the press conference. He thought Tillerson should have been more confrontational”...

After just a few coments it was obvious, and expected, where Wallace would take this...I swithched to RT to see what they were telling their audiences instead as I like to know how their presenting this to the Russian people.

Wallace too hopes for war along with the demorats ...as I saw it today it was a successful meeting. Two (unplanned) hours with Putin is nothing to scuff at and a very good sign that Putin isn’t ready to throw in the towel on US relations. ..communication lines are restored....that’s a win.

Tillerson handled himself very well. He behaved like a true diplomat and statesman. I like his understated style. He chooses his words carefully and is concise and brief, i.e., he doesn't have diarrhea of the mouth like Kerry and Obama. You don't go into great detail about was discussed behind closed doors. And you don't confront the host country in public.

It could very well be that Lavrov was aggressive and on the offense because of what went on during the private meetings. Tillerson was probably frank and candid, which got Russia's attention.

Lavrov put down Andrea Mitchell for her lack of manners when she tried to shout questions when Tillerson sat down at the beginning of the meeting with Lavrov. The US MSM were the ones who were confrontational and rude. The CBS reporter asked a lengthy question and then demanded that Lavrov answer the question in English. To Lavrov's credit, he answered in Russian. These reporters have become unhinged. It is embarrassing when they show such disrespect in a foreign country to the foreign minister.

Reagan and Trump

Both took fast and impactful action against rogue nations
Both put conservatives on the bench
Both understand tax cuts and economics
Both have similar foreign policies
Best the fought Washington insiders

That’s it for now

What President Trump in Syria is very Reaganisque.

In what way????

Peace through strength, moral certitude, and leadership in the world—that's in what way.

President Trump's action in Syria has completely changed the dynamic of world affairs—for the better. It has also improved his domestic standing greatly.

Can't you see that? A blind man could see it with a cane...

There does seem to be some walking back on certainty that it was Assad who used chemical weapons.

Nonsense.

You must have missed Secretary of Defense Mattis's superb press conference yesterday.

Where are you getting this stuff?

First answer at press conference today you knew that Tillerson was a different and welcome departure from Kerry. Reporter asked about Trump calling Assad “an animal”, Rex said “his actions have earned him those terms”.
I wasn’t too sure about Rex at first, but he’s impressed me so far.

But why would they do so at such a critical meeting?....IMO..in both these instances it again evidences US media continues to be “obstructionists” to this administrations efforts, regardless of what’s at stake, with a desire that ‘everything’ fails under Trumps administration and or creating tensions of.... so far as to do this even on foreign soil.
They were deliberately trying to create issues between Tillerson and Lavrov. They knew exactly what they were doing. They do not want to report anything favorable to Trump...

I laughed when Lavrov blamed Obama for the mess left to Trump...and several times he spoke negatively about Obama....no doubt the press was more than irritated with Lavrovs remarks concerning their hero.

Tillerson was just great....I agree with all you stated....and did you notice he maintained absolute eye contact with Lavrov as he spoke...never looked away once. Took Lavrov a moment to realize this as he moved papers about...

Sorry, Putin has crossed the line enabling the Assad regime mass murders and he’s going to pay for it:

U.S. President Donald Trump, in an exclusive interview on Fox Business, described Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad as a “butcher” and “truly an evil person,” noting that the relationship between Syria and Russia is “bad for mankind.”

Tillerson backtracked on the statement regarding that Russia colluded with Assad but produced no evidence that Assad was behind the chemical attack. It could be that Assad bombed a place where rebels kept the chemical. Or there is some other explanation. I can't think of any reason for Assad to have done it.

Mattis's press conference yesterday was a big disappointment, made me questions his ability for the job. Again no evidence of Assad's involvement, not even as to the type of chemicals used. Somebody suggested that all the US has are accusations by the rebels posted on FaceBook.

Until there is a on the ground independent investigation into the chemical attack and absolute discovery that it was Assad ..I am leaving that door open to question if or not Assad.
Even so I supported Trumps actions regardless of who is responsible.

Putin was invited by Assad to assist him against the terrorist invasion there, of which there is no doubt to anyone that happened and continues. Trump does not want to be involved with their civil war and stated so...
“we are not going in”. Russia understands this as of today...

The only way to prevent a war is to be willing to go to war and use overwhelming force to win. That's the only thing Russians understand, the only thing Assad understands, and maybe the Iranians and Norks although those countries might be too stupid to understand that.

Would I want a nuclear war? No, but neither do I want capitulation.

Sorry, I’m not going to parrot decades old leftist talking points about how much the US wants war.

A better question is: Does Russia want nuclear war? They’ve been threatening nuclear war on and off for the last few years. Russia is the one world power right now using mass murder as a foreign policy tool. If anybody “wants war” it is Putinist Russia.
