Conflict could break out ‘at any moment’ over North Korea, Chinese foreign minister warns

A conflict over North Korea could break out “at any moment”, China’s foreign minister Wang Yi said on Friday, warning there would be “no winner” in any war as tensions soar with the US.

The sharp language came after US President Donald Trump said the North Korea problem “will be taken care of”, as speculation mounts that the reclusive state could be preparing another nuclear or missile test.

“Lately, tensions have risen ... and one has the feeling that a conflict could break out at any moment,” Wang said. “If a war occurs, the result is a situation in which everybody loses and there can be no winner.”

Whichever side provoked a conflict “must assume the historic responsibility and pay the corresponding price,” he said in a joint press conference with his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault. Trump has sent a aircraft carrier-led strike group to the Korean peninsula to press his point, one of a series of signals that indicate his willingness to shake up foreign policy strategy.

I really wonder how many of his military commanders believe this nut job and think Kim is some glorious heaven sent leader? I really do.

Yes, but not only that. If you talk to Chinese officials some have a similar opinion that they were tricked into the Korean War by the Soviet Union.

The question is if this is repeated now?

Wonder why DPRK has no lights at night on sat imagery? It is all these 250 kW HF jammers on the air. More 6000-6015 kHz jamming nonsense.

Kim’s inner circle are survivors. I bet none of them wants to risk themselves, and by extension, their families in the attempt. If anything they’ll be searching for a dupe to pull the trigger. He’ll die in the attempt, successful or not.

MacArthur assumed the NK’s were beaten and that rumors of a Chinese Invation were overblown and therefore incorrect. He had his units spread out an moving fast toward the Yalu in an attempt to secure the territory and accept surrender of any NK units encountered. The Army wasn’t expecting major combat, but the Marines were. General Smith kept the regiments of the 1st MarDiv as closed-up as possible under the circumstances (a road march on a single axis of advance). MacArthur’s staff was hounding him to speed up the pursuit. Smith didn’t see it that way and that more than anything probably allowed the 1st MarDiv to survive.

Once it is equipped with the ability to attack the U.S. mainland with ICBMs with miniaturized warheads, it has crossed a red line. When that happens, North Korea must prepare itself for a military attack from the U.S.

ICBM's would allow for an EMP attack. That's why the ugly fat one must be stopped before getting to that point:

They’re fanatics. German top guys, save a few, were pretty loyal to the end.

there can be no winner.”...

China is wrong. If NK is incapacitated and can no longer lob a nuke then there is a winner, albeit with a lot of dead folks.

But a #### of a lot less than 10 years and 50 nukes from now.

I still believe that China has planted moles throughout the Nork government that can take out the regime at any time.

I fear, repeat “fear,” that North Korea will conquer South Korea in about three days. We will then be treated to the parading of our troops and the turning of female “soldiers” into comfort girls.”

The earlier NK nuclear tests were done at 8:30 and 9:00 AM local time

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_nuclear_weapons_tests_of_North_Korea

the time now is 1:15 AM local time
https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/north-korea/pyongyang

this means something may happen in about 7.5 h +- 15 minutes.

Hate to disagree. Probably nobody gets ‘close’ to the Leader unless they have been continuously vetted, AND given family hostages to guarantee their good-conduct. It’s a medieval system. Protect the King or your family is extinguished.

The Chinese may take-out the NK leader but it won’t be via close-range assassination. A few years back there was a huge explosion of a train that passed by Kim Jon-Il’s private train. The wide-spread belief was that China tried and failed to take him out. Barring a commando strike, IED or a bombing raid, even China won’t get him.
