I’d want to hedge the lying in one direction just to fool the other side, but they don’t seem to think that is necessary.

I think some of it must have to do with their belief that being Muslim renders them superior to all others, therefore having any personal integrity is unnecessary. Indeed, many of them don’t even have any concept of it, far as I can tell.
