Washington (CNN)US authorities have prepared charges to seek the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, US officials familiar with the matter tell CNN. The Justice Department investigation of Assange and WikiLeaks dates to at least 2010, when the site first gained wide attention for posting thousands of files stolen by the former US Army intelligence analyst now known as Chelsea Manning. Prosecutors have struggled with whether the First Amendment precluded the prosecution of Assange, but now believe they have found a way to move forward.

It may be that the CIA does not want to appear in any way to go easy on leakers and hackers.

Maybe it was over your head, but the “equality” is in the means towards an end, though the crimes bear no similarity.

Drugs dealing would not be occurring without the clients. Likewise, without the “clients” for the leaks, there might not be any leaks or not much to speak of. Wikileaks is the client, and the leakers are/were within the government.

Meanwhile Hillary Clinton walks free despite Trump’s blustering 6 months ago. Anthony Weiner the pedophile? Free as a bird.

You’re missing the big point. What was revealed was the massive illegal activities of the US intel community in spying ON the American people.

Nobody nominated Assange and/or Wikileaks to be judge and juror when it comes to trying to "fix" the "illegal activities" in the intel community.

You should never attempt to fix a crime by committing another crime, though some would equate that with "righteousness" and "heroics".

It's as if Obama still controls the DOJ.

There must be so many layers of influence, privilege - and blackmail even.

But there is something disconcerting happening in the past month, in regards to the Trump administration. I was astonished by Trump's passive view that Hillary Clinton had been given a pass by the FBI ... but anyway ...

President Trump argued in a television interview that aired Wednesday that former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton would be "going to trial" if FBI director Jim Comey hadn't been "very, very good" to her.

...Trump was asked if it was a mistake not to ask Comey to step down and if it's too late to do so now. "No it's not too late," Trump said. "But you know, I have confidence in him. We'll see what happens. It's going to be interesting."

..."Don't forget when Jim Comey came out, he saved Hillary Clinton," Trump said. "People don't realize that. He saved her life. Because I call it 'Comey 1.' And I joke about it a little bit. ..."

Is the joke on us?

There isn’t a crime in reporting illegal behavior just because those criminals are high ranking government officials. That makes any such comparisons a stretch. Further, even in your pejorative fantasy analogy, wikileaks would be the dealer, the leakers would be the suppliers, and we the people would be the clients. But sure, if you want to make yourself feel better by saying it’s all over my head, go for it.

Your "judge and juror" straw man fallacy aside, legitimate whistleblowers aren't nominated.

Agreed. That became obvious not too long after the massive domestic surveillance operations were exposed.

Stupid, stupid, stupid move.

What the hell is Jeff "I Recuse Myself and Apologize" Sessions thinking?

Charge and seek arrest of Brennan, Podesta, Abedin, Hillary, Brock, and Alefantis!

What a fiasco.

Then start with news outfits (Times, CNN, etc)that the US has jurisdiction over. Since when did we have jurisdiction of foreigners in foreign lands, aside from war activity.

Take everybody in the CIA and deploy them all to Afghanistan for a tour of duty.

After I suppose they won’t let themselves be put on a wild goose chase egregiously abusing numerous constitutional protections to politically spy on opposition candidates during an election year.

Agreed. Comey should not have survived past 20 January. Pompeo was a bad establishment pick. Would have rather seen Gorka or Guiliani in there to shake things up down to the foundation.

"Height of arrogance. Assange is not a US citizen and is not subject to US law, nor did he commit a crime on US soil. Those who authorized spyware on US citizens should go to jail."

The criminals in DC continue

That is not Justice.
