Moreover, the most rigorous test applied to squelching speech is applied to preventing speech, especially political speech. Even if one assumes that years ago Ann Coulter uttered some speech that was legitimately liable to being censored, that makes no justification for pre-censorship today or tomorrow at Berkeley.

I agree 100%. You literally just about took the words right out of my mouth. There it is, indeed, no need for a 1st Amendment if everybody says nice things to each other and no one is offended by anything that anyone else says. The first amendment is needed only to protect things that others consider offensive.

I could not disagree more with this one part of your post. Howard Dean knows exactly what he is doing. He is not stupid, he is, like the rest of the Left, a fascist. Let’s stop attributing to stupidity what is really attributable to evil. They on the Left want to utterly dominate our society. The first step in doing this is to gain control over all the levers of power. This can only be achieved if they shut us up, and that can only be achieved if they destroy the First Amendment.
So far as I am concerned, “ANTIFA” stands for “Anti-First Amendment.”
