Sen. Marco Rubio Marco RubioRubio defends Trump: 'This whole flip flop thing is a political thing' Rubio: Shutdown would have 'catastrophic impact' on global affairs Sunday shows preview: Trump stares down 100-day mark MORE (R-Fla.) on Sunday said a shutdown of the United States government would have a “catastrophic impact” on global affairs.

“The last thing we can afford is to send a message to the world that the United States government, by the way, is only partially functioning,” Rubio told CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“I mean, that would just have catastrophic impact, in my view, or certainly very destabilizing, I should say, impact on global affairs. And so we should keep that in mind going into this week.”

Partially? From my vantage, the US government is not functioning at all.

Aaaaargh.

Government shutdown is an oxymoron.

The government does NOT in fact shut down.

Rubio, that uniparty expletive-deleted, bloody well knows this.

Somebody tell Rubio the government shut Dow and the only reason people noticed was because they deliberately targeted things that affect us. How about no pay for the staffers and legislators to start with them defund NPR, EPA, and Department of education FIRST?

Here we go again with the Chicken Little Dance.
Yes, it is of course preferable that the Government not be ‘shut down’ due to having no acceptable budget submitted.
At very least, it looks at though people aren’t doing their jobs correctly, a part of that being to negotiate, submit and enact a workable national budget.

However, we’ve gone through this before a couple of times, and we now know that most essential governmental functions will continue even in absence of an updated budget. We know that Obama’s people purposely made it seem worse years ago via theater and choreography. Remember those black steel gates that suddenly popped up and blocked people from visiting national parks?
Remember the Veterans Groups that were blocked from attending a Vets function held outside. The elderly veterans simply removed many of the barriers or went around them.
This was but one example of Obama’s pettiness and contempt for his worst foe: the average Non-Obama-Loving American.

If this so called shut down occurs this time, I would not be surprised to learn that Paul Ryan somehow facilitated the outcome or exacerbated the consequences just to stain Trump’s legacy. Unfortunately, I no longer trust Paul Ryan at all.

The Republicans are trying to oust Trump. He is fighting hard. Either way the public loses. Only the libs can win by making a mess of the entire system. Indict all the criminals in public service. Fire the rest and put new ones into place. That will wake up the masses.

CONgress “working” ONLY 8 days this month is practically a shutdown for all intents and purposes.

Little Marco and most of the swamp creatures have a vastly exaggerated impression of their importance!!!

Dr. Ben Carson found 500 billion dollars of waste, fraud and abuse at HUD alone. What have you done about that, Rubio?

Fine Marco, turn in your essay detailing all the horrible damage from all the other govt “shutdowns” that have taken place.

Those horrible results and effects have slipped my mind, unlike the effects of 9/11 for example.
