Trump’s ‘big, beautiful wall’ collides with Congress

WASHINGTON — President Trump reportedly backed off his demand that Congress include a down payment for a wall spanning the entire U.S.-Mexico border in a crucial spending bill that must pass by Friday night to keep the government funded.

Republican lawmakers have urged the president to focus on border security in general instead of the wall, which Democrats have called a poison pill that would cause them to reject the bill and shut down the government.

Trump told a group of conservative reporters he invited to the White House on Monday that he was open to getting funding for the wall in September when Congress debates the 2018 budget, the Associated Press reported. This is a sharp reversal from his position over the weekend and early Monday, when he doubled down on his demand for the wall. Trump tweeted repeatedly that the wall is necessary to stop the flow of drugs into the United States.

“If the wall is not built, which it will be, the drug situation will NEVER be fixed the way it should be!” Trump exclaimed Monday, adding: “#BuildTheWall.”

Is it possible to get a public subscription to fund the building of the wall? We need it, it will work, and America shall be the better for having it in place.

And it would also get right in Nanacy Pelosi’s face.

"Ryan is trying very very hard to destroy Trump, and right now he is winning."

Backstabber Ryan shows -- and always speaks -- his contempt of President Trump.

The Wall was the centerpiece of his campaign. In fact, “building the Wall” was his most recognizable and repeated slogan. This is the issue he cannot lose on.

Paul Ryan needs to be replaced!

You got that right! A majority of Americans support stronger immigration policies as well as a wall. This turd, Ryan is playing obstructionist for the left, the DC establishment, and the democrats. He needs to go, NOW!

Does anyone believe that Ryan will support the wall in 2018?

Sure, looks all peachy now but what happens when Obama II comes down the lane even 4 or after 8 years????? It would go back to where it was before, right?

Build the damn wall. It will stand even though administrations will change.

Noting that I gladly voted for Pres. Trump and do not regret doing so, please consider the following.

Given that the Oval Office is arguably constitutionally “married” to Congress, Trump’s biggest campaign mistake imo, was not encouraging patriots to give him a new Congress that would support his MAGA agenda.

So while Trump has accomplished a lot in his first 100 days when compared with other presidents, Trump has been probably been stumbling out of the presidential gate with respect to his proven leadership skills as a consequence of an anti-Trump, anti-MAGA Congress imo.

Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!

Remember in November ’18 !

Since Trump entered the ’16 presidential race too late for patriots to make sure that there were state sovereignty-respecting candidates on the primary ballots, patriots need make sure that such candidates are on the ’18 primary ballots so that they can be elected to support Trump in draining the unconstitutionally big federal government swamp.

Such a Congress will also be able to finish draining the swamp with respect to getting the remaining state sovereignty-ignoring, activist Supreme Court justices off of the bench.

In fact, if Justice Gorsuch turns out to be a liberal Trojan Horse then we will need 67 patriot senators to remove a House-impeached Gorsuch from office.

Noting that the primaries start in Iowa and New Hampshire in February ‘18, patriots need to challenge candidates for federal office in the following way.

While I Googled the primary information above concerning Iowa and New Hampshire, FReeper iowamark brought to my attention that the February primaries for these states apply only to presidential election years. And after doing some more scratching, since primary dates for most states for 2018 elections probably haven’t been uploaded at this time (March 14, 2017), FReepers will need to find out primary dates from sources and / or websites in their own states.

Patriots need to qualify candidates by asking them why the Founding States made the Constitution’s Section 8 of Article I; to limit (cripple) the federal government’s powers.

Patriots also need to find candidates that are knowledgeable of the Supreme Court's clarifications of the federal government’s limited powers listed below.

“I mean if people stop coming because they will be busted and deported in an expedient manner, what point the wall?”

That will not stop trafficking in drugs and kidnapped children.

The wall is permanent. The POTUS and AG are not.

Trump should uncover a few of Ryan’s felonies and destroy him.

Yeah, good points.

Nothing against the wall, for sure, but it’s up to the RINOs in congress to fund it, OTOH enforcement of the laws is firmly within the purview of the POTUS. Politics is the art of the possible.

Right?

Without the wall a Rat Admin can reverse everything Trump/Sessions has done for border security.

I want a fix that will be permanent. A wall will outlast the Trump administration. Tough enforcement very likely will not.
