I was in Berlin a few weeks ago. While I’ve been to several German cities, this was the first time to Berlin.

Boy, the Russians really did a number on that town in WW2. Between leveling just about everything, and then re-building it in typical communist barracks fashion, it is truly one of the most butt-ugly cities in Europe. They could use someone like Trump to come in and transform it.

Nothing compared to what the Germans did to Warsaw. And on top of that, they also got the Communist barracks, just like Berlin after the war.

RE: They could use someone like Trump to come in and transform it.

Trump attempted to build a Trump Tower in Germany.

TD Trump Deutschland AG (German for “TD Trump Germany AG”) was a venture by Donald Trump planning to trade and build skyscrapers in Germany. In cooperation with Marseille-Kliniken Hamburg, The Trump Organisation agreed in August 2000 to found TD Trump Deutschland AG with a common capital stock of 4 million Euro, split equally as 2 million for each partner company.

TD Trump Deutschland AG initially planned to build a residential tower in Berlin’s central Alexanderplatz area. Trump’s German business partner Hans Ulrich Gruber described Trump’s aim as “to build a bridge between Berlin and New York.”

However, his plan for the tallest building in Germany in the capital city was stymied by Berlin’s relatively low (150 m) limit for new building height.

The company settled on Pragsattel (Stuttgart) for the construction of what was to be a 55-story (220 m tall) building named Trump Tower, which would have been the highest building in south Germany. The project investment was estimated at 250 million Euro.

to make a long story short, In January 2003, the city of Stuttgart finally refused the permission to build the tower, foreseeing that TD Trump Deutschland AG could not solve its difficulties in securing necessary financing.

The company was dissolved in April 2005.

I was in Berlin a year before t he wall came down, took a bus tour of East Berlin....OMG, it was hideous and had NO retail stores.....

Many East Berliners regretted the wall coming down; it meant they had to actually work for a living instead of collecting bennies from the Collective. A dentist, for example, had to see patients EVERY DAY to make a living.....

Ivanka, come home. Please stop hanging around with Fugly Commies.

Communist era architecture sure is horrid. I’ve never been to Germany, or Berlin, but my son has been to Berlin, and other German cities controlled by the Russians numerous times, and his photos show the ugliness. Quite a bit of graffiti too.
