Liberals Slam Obama For Taking $400K From Wall Street

Some notable liberals are not happy with former President Barack Obama's decision to give a speech at a Wall Street conference.

Obama will be paid $400,000 to give a speech at Cantor Fitzgerald's healthcare conference this September, according to Fox Business. Some of Obama's supporters are upset with the former president who often railed against income inequality and the business practices of Wall Street.

The Washington Post gave four reasons why Obama's $400,000 speech is a bad idea. One of the reasons the article cites is that in President Obama's 2006 book The Audacity of Hope he called arrangements like this a corrupting influence.

Some liberals expressed their frustration and anger with Obama's decision on Twitter.

A Kenyan lawmaker told the nation's Parliament last month (March 2010) that Barack Obama was born in Africa and is therefore "not even a native American."

During debate over the draft of a new Kenyan constitution, James Orengo, the country's minister of lands and a member of parliament for the Ugenya constituency, cited America's election of a Kenyan-born president as an example of what can be accomplished when diverse peoples unite:

"If America was living in a situation where they feared ethnicity and did not see itself as a multiparty state or nation," Orengo posited, "how could a young man born here in Kenya, who is not even a native American, become the president of America?"

Orengo held up the U.S. as a country no longer "living in the past," since Americans elected a Kenyan-born president without regard to "ethnic consideration and objectives."

This is just payback for services rendered. It is a way to launder payoffs. Hillary got the same deal with her book advance. They get huge amounts of money unwarranted by the services or product provided. Cuomo got a huge book deal that worked out for him at about $200 per book sold.

I really don’t blame *anyone* for taking advantage of such an offer.

I confess, I did go to hear Bill Clinton once, after he was out of office, but it was a great and very useful presentation about public speaking and presenting (part of a Zig Ziglar seminar), learned a lot from a master. But then I’ve watched ‘Triumph Of The Will’ a bunch of times, too :-)
