No. You have to get the music.
The music never stopped ...

I just wanna call with the Cowboy Junkies.

I discovered this little ditty after solo climbing Pfeifferhorn in the summer and was grateful to get up and down safely.

Some guy named Dylan did it in the winter and I was stunned. The song he posted with his video was haunting, truly haunting.

I got to fold this hand to the Cowboy Junkies.

I’ll open a new hand with an “LA Song”

Ah, the battle of piano girls. Well, this piano girl made her name in LA too.

This is a very clever cover of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit which I generally prefer over the original Nirvana version.

I’d love to continue playing but I need to place a marker.

We’ll have to pick this up later.

Well, you played the Bush card before I did; but this one is better.

Ooh, I just know that something good is going to happen
And I don't know when
But just saying it could even make it happen

I know the feeling. I believed my recruiter too.

LOL! One thing I was told actually came true - I got a "shorter than average" haircut...

That Hendrix concert was in 1969, right? I was 16 and wanted to go but had to work at my bus boy job at a Chinese restaurant in Federal Way. We did see Janis Joplin at Sick’s Stadium the following summer, great show with the Youngbloods, and the Steve Miller Band. Saw a lot of baseball there growing up, Dad always got us box seats for the Rainiers. Ten cents for popcorn.

It was in ‘70.

Not so funny story....I was 16 too and a wild child. I had purchased tickets for myself and a girlfriend and then got into some trouble and my dad grounded me. There was no way I was going to miss it so I sneaked out of the house and attended anyway.

It turned out to be a fairly miserable concert. It rained - relentlessly, and we huddled beneath scraps of plastic sheeting to try and stay dry. You know Seattle - even in July when it rains it gets chilly and none of us were dressed for it.

Cactus was the opening band and put out an entirely forgettable set. They were new and the only recognizable song was a cover of “Can’t Tell A Book By It’s Cover”. I remember that they tried hard but people were anxious to see Jimi and more than a little fearful that the show would be called due to the weather. I’m sure it was hard to put on a good show when everyone is chanting, “Jimi! Jimi!”

Jimi’s performance left a lot to be desired. I would have loved to see him at the Filmore or one of many other concerts he put on. He came on late, and was irritated with everything and everyone. The crowd was appreciative and cheering him on with chants to play different tunes. But jimi took it the wrong way and at one point he abruptly stopped playing and said (paraphrase): “If you want me to play Purple Haze then fvck y’all, I’ll play Purple Haze and then go home. Or STFU and I give you a show”. (As it turned out PH was part of his setlist anyway but he had it arranged to play after The Star-Spangled Banner like he played at Woodstock).

I remember that the performance was delivered with a harsh and angry tone. We left, soggy and worn out, and I still had to deal with dad.

It wasn’t what I would call a fun summer.
