It depends on what you mean be "magic bullet". Usually people are referring to the supposed turns in mid-air that some conspiracists liked to talk about. If that's what you mean, it's a myth. That was never part of the scenario.

What the other responses were talking about were duplicating the wounds and bullet condition.

I don’t remember the exact spec - BUT Manlicer Carcano used a particular bullet shape compared to american rifle being more oblong vs pointy or something, so the gun had some unique ballistic attributes
