What I hate even more is when there’s a teaser headline, and the writer thinks he’s writing a novel, setting up the story with character development before before telling you what happened. You have to read half the article just to find out what the headline means. In a news article who, what, when, where and why should be in the first paragraph if not the first sentence.
The 45,493 criminal alien figure should have been compared to the total "federal inmates in BOP custody" - to reveal the impact of illegal aliens.
The BOP gives its total "federal inmates in BOP custody" as 153,789 [Link*].
That makes criminal aliens 30% of all inmates in BOP custody. THAT IS A HUGE IMPACT!
These are just ones they caught.

You have also pointed out that those are only for Federal crimes. By far, most serious crimes are state or local crimes.

So as far as serious felons goes the actual total is several (many? ) times the BOP numbers.
Plus, the elephant in the room... defining fraudulently obtained naturalized citizenship ----The penalty, after the first bite of that apple should be automatic deportation, with prejudice, including any children.

Which suggest two, and only two explanations as to cause:

Yup. Some FReepers love to use acronyms to make themselves appear important, and they really don’t care about the message.
During the Obama years (”Eight Years A Slave -— us, not him), no stats were allowed to be published. Same thing with “religious affiliation”.
If you look at the press release the article quoted, you will see that they referred to the Bureau of Prisons and noted it’s acryonm eariler in press release. The writer of the article was quoting a later section.

I absolutely hate undefined acronyms, specially in excerpts, since I belong to AAAAAA ..............
Many here make up their own, some of them quite lengthy and expect others to know what they mean.
