There is a war on religious liberty in America and this war is targeting people of the Christian faith.
An Army of militant atheists and LGBT activists are hell-bent on eradicating Christianity from the public marketplace and punishing Christians who follow the teachings of Christ.
Thats why President Trump signed an executive order on religious liberty today in the Rose Garden to protect Americans who have been targeted by a politically correct lynch mob.
The order is for people like Barronelle Stutzman a grandmother and the owner of a Washington state flower shop. Mrs. Stutzman, a sweet and gentle woman, faces the loss of her business, her home and life savings because she refused to participate in a gay wedding.
Its for people like the Vander Boon family of Grand Rapids, Michigan the owners of a meat packing company. USDA inspectors ordered the Vander Boons to remove religious materials from their companys break room.
Now, I suspect that some Christians might be puzzled by the presidents executive order because it does not specifically mention protections for people like the Vander Boons or Mrs. Stutzman.
But fear not, friends.
Thats because President Trump has directed the Department of Justice to come up with guidelines that will protect people of faith and ensure these religious protections are afforded to all Americans.
That means Attorney General Jeff Sessions will be writing guidelines for every federal agency to ensure that our rights are protected.
No American should be forced to choose between the dictates of the federal government and the tenets of their faith, President Trump said.
Thats a mic-drop moment, folks.
We will not allow people of faith to be targeted, bullied or silenced anymore, the president said. We will never ever stand for religious discrimination.
Family Research Council president Tony Perkins was among those celebrating the presidents executive order.
The open season on Christians and other people of faith is coming to a close in America and we look forward to assisting the Trump administration in fully restoring Americas First Freedom, Perkins said.
Perkins said the executive order makes clear that the administration will pursue policies that protect and vigorously promote religious liberty.
This step today starts the process of reversing the devastating trend set by the last administration to punish charities, pastors, family-owned businesses and honest, hard-working people simply for living according to their faith, Perkins told me.
First Liberty Institute president Kelly Shackelford points out that such an order should be unnecessary -- but activists have pledged to challenge the president in court.
"Our country was founded on the promise that its government would respect the religious liberty of its people," Shackelford said. "America's commitment to freedom - and especially religious liberty - should be our national priority."
I know that some of my fellow evangelicals are a bit uneasy because they don't believe the executive order goes far enough but be patient. This is the first of several steps to protect religious liberty.
This president has demonstrated he is a friend to people of faith and at the end of the day I have no doubt he will honor his word. Just have faith.
It is past time to destroy the Johnson amendment.
Wasn’t the Johnson Amendment created by Lyndon Johnson to keep black churches from organizing DeSegregation efforts? Remember, Lyndon Johnson was a rabid bigot.... and segregationist until it became politically expedient to bring the slaves into the Democrat Plantation, where they’ll vote for them for 200 years.
[I know that some of my fellow evangelicals are a bit uneasy because they don’t believe the executive order goes far enough but be patient. This is the first of several steps to protect religious liberty.]
PRESIDENT TRUMP is doing the best he can at keeping his promises to the people. Point the finger at CONGRESS whose appearance of ‘standing for religious liberty’ is a facade.
Well, as they say the devils in the details. While on one hand this seems quite laudable and supportable, rest assured that whats good for one party is also good for the other and one can see that endless claims of discrimination are in the future. Lets take the case of a moose-limb woman in full niqaab/burqa regalia who wants to be a police officer on the street. Isnt that a case where she is forced to choose between the dictates of the federal government and the tenets of their faith?
I don't understand how this executive order will prevent state agencies, in Washington State and elsewhere, from enforcing their states' anti-discrimination laws and regulations.
Have I missed something?
Sessions hasn’t written the guidelines yet.
..left-wing black churches have participated in electioneering for a long time, so all the Johnson amendment succeeded in doing was suppressing white evangelicals—but no more...
One writer pointed out that the Johnson Amendment has not been subject to a Supreme Court ruling because a case has not arisen. Those who violate the law are not prosecuted, while those who know they would be prosecuted don’t break the law.
and mosques will have the same freedom, not all good here.
And he remained a rabid bigot until he died. When the Civil rights bill passed he was reported to have said, "that'll keep the n***ers voting democrat for 200 years".
“An Army of militant atheists and LGBT activists are hell-bent on eradicating Christianity from the public marketplace and punishing Christians who follow the teachings of Christ.”...........
Not to mention all the help they are getting from the Muslims. (IMO, Islam seems more like a cult instead of a religion)
I don’t understand why Johnson thought the black vote would go to the democrats for 200 years when it was republicans who supported the civil rights act.
Because even today everyone but conservatives who know their history give ALL the credit to the democrats. It’s just a given.
