liberals openly nominate and promote liberal activists to the bench who manufacture their own laws, while conservatives look for strict constructionists who simply try to maintain the status quo

A REAL strict constructionist would rule that most of the current federal government is unconstitutional, and have no constitutionally-granted authority to do most of what the feds are doing.

Exactly. If President Trump appoints an originalist and literalist to the Supreme Court this summer, we could have an originalist majority on the Supreme Court for the first time in 70 years.

Affirmative action is unconstitutional because it violates equal protection under the law.

Federal gun controls are unconstitutional under the Second Amendment.

Federal Election law has been unconstitutionally used to violate States authority to have geographical representation in their legislatures. (Hard to get that genie back in the bottle!)

Federal law routinely violates freedom of association, with racial quotas.

“Homosexual Marriage” is an oxymoron. There is no protection for it in the Constitution.

Similarly, Abortion has always been a matter for the states.
