White House announces President Donald Trump has fired FBI Director James Comey
VERY astute deduction, Dave! I thought the same. Mika and Joe will be devastated that they received no heads up on this magnificent version of “YOU’RE FIRED” from their friends in the White House, who “still call them”.
It was a total break down by Trump staffers, according to Brit Hume, that this effort to use a courier to hand deliver the termination letter to Comey could not even master checking to see if Comey was in!
Terrible optics, disgusting and cruelly UN-professional!
The White House didn’t know Comey was in California and therefore released their statement to the press, after informing party leaders, Dianne Feinstein and other ranking members, and chairs of committees. Very tacky termination.
But YOU nailed it. No leaks! Stunning. Trump discussed this with no one but Sessions and sent the courier! Just wonderful execution, except for where it was bungled.
and that's not easy...
Trey Gowdy would be the optimal choice. No hidden agendas or business allegiances to contaminate his thinking, smart, aggressive, tenacious, conservative, honest, ... I could go on. Oh, I forgot: bad hair ... :-)
This is a classic case of “Pride cometh before a fall”...

Comey was whip sawing both the Left and the Right. It was imperative that the FBI be de-politicized and fast. Chopping off the head will leave a mark on the Obama connected who infest every government department.
No comparison to Nixon......It was late in the Nixon investigation and Nixon was already hung out and everyone knew it...all sorts of evidence was already revealed and docuented in full view of the audience.....Nixon’s actions were his last minute efforts to fight.....

Comey's files, personal computer and everything in his and his aides' offices are now removed and safely under lock and key....and the inspection of such gold mines will start tomorrow morning at dawn.
No chance for the Comey-ites to trash the computers and remove all the "T's" from the keyboards.

Great post, as always, Leni and it makes a whole LOT of sense.
That's exactly right...assuming an official position he really did not have. So why?
Well I tend to believe he indeed loved the limelight with all the focus on him..and it certainly went to his head. It just seemed to me the guy thought more of the power he thought he had than the responsibility.
His last two episodes before the committee I simply could not watch.....all his drama and ridiculous unnecessary comments just turned me off entirely. What was he trying to prove by soft selling himself throughout those hearings rather than just answer the questions.
CNN reporting that a grand jury 2 weeks ago got subpoenas to go after Trump ‘associates’ starting with Flynn and then down to various levels of the campaign.
Someone is leaking this to CNN to throw fuel on the fire.
They should just fire 25% of the DOJ. It has been corrupt since the Janet Reno days

I’m hearing that Trump could not possibly fire Comey until after he finally got Sessions cleared through Congress and until Sessions got his sea legs under him.
It was reported that Obama had planted a few weeks before he left, that ridiculous rule for the Justice Department that forced the incoming AG, whoever he was going to be, to select his Deputy AG from this little pool of Obama people! Remember that? Trump had to immediately rescind that hog tie rule.
Sessions is eventually approved, the rule rescinded and he is freed finally to pick his Deputy AG. Sessions assigns the deputy to review the FBI cases and general state of affairs at the FBI, on APRIL 26th. Today was the result of that review and recommendation the deputy made to Sessions.
This deputy is widely respected and so is Sessions. It is doubtful, according to Brit Hume, that there will be a need for a Special Prosecutor, because the FBI investigators will continue their investigation the same as if Comey were still seated.... unless the Republicans join in with the Leftists to howl for one.
