WaPo was itself part of several “meetings” that somehow never made it onto the official schedule of the previous president, AG or SoS.

The same here. By the time I was in my mid 50’s, I had exceeded my life’s quota of meeting hours.

I informed my priest and others at my church, I would gladly do things that didn’t require meetings, like ushering, greeting, church work parties and helping my wife to bring meals and or communion to the members unable to attend church or in the need to help.

Then, I quit any service club with meetings.

Recently, basically due to begging by friends, I was asked to become a board member of two of my favorite charities. I told them that I would attend one meeting as a guest and let them know.

I attended one meeting and thanked them and said, “No!”.

Actually, Obama golfed on the weekends. On vacations to Martha’s Vineyard in August and Hawaii in December he’d golf during the week. It wasn’t until the last month or so in office that he golfed during the week. IIRC that was just one time.
