Would you be friends with a transgender person? A full 27 percent of American adults on a recent YouGov survey said no. Even fewer—less than 20 percent—said they would be open to dating a transgender person.

The disappointing but unsurprising results reveal a sad truth about the transgender rights movement: Cultural acceptance has tended to lag behind formal recognition.

When I was dating, 5 decades ago, the first filter in selecting a date was “would I want to sleep with this woman?”.

I don’t think things have changed much for men in the last 50 years. And IMHO, never will.

As a friend or coworker, I would have zero problem. To date, no. I have zero interest in dating anyone with a vagina or even who used to have one.

That would be my first inclination, but to be true to conservatism/reality, don't think it would be possible long-term. To be friends you'd have to play along with the fantasy that that he is a "she". That would be impossible for me.

Mentally ill people deserve sympathy and help. Beyond that, no. Anyone who would undergo genital or other surgical mutilation is unstable.

No emotionally healthy person would ever undergo that kind of plastic surgery.

“Gender reassignment surgery” is rank quackery.

The irony is that I never had a problem with any of these types nor did I care and always was respectful and kept any thought to my self. Now that it’s being shoved down our throat if we like or not and we are being attacked, I do have a serious problem with these freaks.

I love and cherish women. I only date women and for the last 23 years have slept with only one woman my beloved wife. If I was in the dating scene again (something that will not happen) I would only go out and date those that were born a woman.

I guess I must be a bigot!

He must be exhausted. Given that 0.3% of Americans ( a surprising large number) identify as transgender, that means that transgenders are getting about 13 and a third times as much action as normal people.

I don’t want to know one, I don’t want to sit by one, I’d rather not go to areas where they are. I stay away from them they should stay away from me. Then we will both be happy.

As an aside, look up 'Angie Zapata'. She was a 'he', and when a guy found out, he beat 'it' to death with a fire extinguisher. Ken Buck, my current congresscritter, was DA at the time, and this was the first 'hate crime' conviction in the country.

I disapprove of "hate crime" laws, even in that context. I approve if the death penalty for murder, and that is what I would have voted for in the case you referred to. The answer is not to give members of vulnerable groups special protection with enhanced sentences for those who commit crimes against them. The answer is to give all violent criminals enhanced sentences.
