Trump budget to slash entitlements by $1.7 trillion!
Axios via Associated Press ^ | 05/22/2017 | Pablo Martinez Monsivais

President Trump's 2018 budget proposal on Tuesday won't reform Social Security or Medicare — in line with his campaign promise — but it will make serious cuts to other entitlement programs. A source with direct knowledge tells me the Trump budget will save $1.7 trillion on the mandatory side over the next ten years.

Expected reaction: In the past couple days I've spoken to a number of White House officials about the budget proposal. The best summary, from one White House source: "Conservatives will love it; moderates will probably hate it." These mandatory cuts — especially to politically-sensitive programs like food stamps — will make some moderate Republicans as nervous as the recent health care bill did.

"Good news" budget items the administration will tout:

  1. Student loans: As the Washington Post previewed: "students currently can have the balance of their loan forgiven after paying 10 percent of their income for 20 years. Trump's proposal — which makes good on a campaign promise — would raise the maximum payment to 12.5 percent of income, but shorten the payment period to 15 years."
  2. Pell grants: As the Post previewed: "The spending plan supports year-round Pell Grants, which allow low-income students to use the money for three semesters of college, instead of two. That way, students can take a full load of courses year-round and earn a degree faster."

"believe it when I see it...Then I’ll really believe it when it’s passed."

And then, you'll really, really believe it when it takes effect. Who knows, some "judge" may strike it down. I sure wouldn't be surprised.

I have a problem with describing Social Security & Medicare as entitlements seeing I paid into them for almost 60 years.

I never have liked the term "entitlements" for welfare. Who do the recipients think they are that they are "entitled" to my money. It reminds me of one charity I had donated money to for a couple of years. When they didn't reach me by phone they just sent me a bill for the third year. They never got another penny. If anything, SS and Medicare recipients are actually entitled to the money because they've paid in for a lifetime and have been promised a payment.

If we can’t end the Food Stamp program for all but the destitute elderly and disabled, then the country has already fallen into the grip of Socialism.

What is needed is a plan to get people sliding scale off SNAP and whatever welfare program they are on...scaled so if you get 10 hrs a week job, you lose part not all...the Dems set it up so you lose all which is an incentive to never get a job.

Trump should tout dignity of work and ownership...how many in congress don’t simply want their vote and dependence...

A Tweet like that would surely leave a mark!!!

A YUGE effort to Cantorize the weasels needs to happen.
There are maybe 50 conservatives in the House and a handful in the Senate.
Most of the GOP needs to be changed out for conservatives if we ever want to get stuff like this passed.
Way too many Democrats in R jerseys.

“>>>Trump budget to slash entitlements by $1.7 trillion!
Which is exactly why it will never happen. So...I’m not sure what the excitement is for. The democrats will not go for it...and all they need is 22ish spineless republicans...and this is toast. The swamp is never going to go for it and the GOP is not going to shut the government down to support it.

This is DOA. Not being a debbie-downer...just being a realist. If anyone wants to make a wager...I’m game...have your pay-pal ready.”

Clearly, you have not read “The Art of the Deal.” Trump ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS asks for more than he both wants and expects to get. That way, he can negotiate down to make the other side feel better, and yet still get more than he is willing to settle for. If he gets $1 trillion, that’s a savings of $100 billion/year, and I will take it. That is WAY more than any other Republican would have even asked for, let alone obtained...and with Shrillary we’d have been discussing how much these programs would be INCREASING each year.

So, take Trump’s initial offer with a grain of salt if you’d like...but that is all that it is - an initial offer.

believe it when I see it...Then I’ll really believe it when it’s passed.

I won't even believe it then...only when it is implemented and enforced ! Sorta like the 2006 legislation that created law for a border wall...whatever happened to that?

Also reform WITHIN the HHS infrastructure to reward with bonuses when a “client” gets a job and gets off a roll!

By dead of night, Obama's been pouring refugees into our communities. Refugees from hellholes---places where they crap in a hole in the ground---and suddenly the refugees are in the money.

THE TAX-PAID US GOVT CASH HAUL IS HUGE they cash multiple US govt checks under several identities in all off these categories:

UI, SSI, Workmen's Comp,

TANF (temporary assistance to needy families),

WICS (food assistance),

subsidized Section 8 shelter,

ObamaPhone subsidies,

Utility Assistance subsidies,

School breakfasts/lunches/snacks subsidies,

$5000 a year EITC checks per identity.

A 21,000 dollar stipend from HHS.

Not to mention falsifying EBT apps claiming "need"---buying non-food items w/ tax dollars.

Falsifying sub-prime mtg apps---flipping the houses among themselves for a big profit---then skipping town---leaving the banks holding the bag.

And on and on and on...ad infinitum, ad nauseaum.

===============================================

Trump better check all wire-transfers going out of those bodegas.....where refugees use their EBT cards.

BREITBART REPORTED: Among the terror jihadists that travel back and forth through our porous southern border w/ Mexico is a Kuwaiti refugee named Shaykh Mahmood Omar Khabir, an ISIS operative who lives in the Mexican state of Chihuahua not far from El Paso, Texas,” authorities reported.

According to US intelligence, Khabir now provides training to thousands of jihadis – mostly from Syria and Yemen – at a base in near Ciudad Juarez, which is located just across the border from El Paso, Texas.

US authorities found out during an investigation of food stamp fraud in a NJ bodega, looking into the store's wire-transfers (remittances).

They all seemed to trace back to one or two accounts in Mexico City.

Cooperating with Mexican Authorities, it soon became apparent that the bodega was aiding and abetting terror. Laundered money was wire-transferred from the NJ bodega to terror cells in Mexico.

Dare we hope that the rampant corruption in such programs such as the Earned Income Credit scam, Medicare, and food stamp/EBT cards will be stopped, or at least greatly controlled? Hundreds of billions of tax dollars cannot be accounted for and no administrators are indicted for malfeasance and gross negligence. We are sick of it.

“The source tells me there’ll be an “emphasis on work requirements for able-bodied people” to save money on these social welfare programs.
That’ll make the “never-worker’s” heads explode! “

I thought that there was a work requirement for welfare since the Clinton years, but Obama somehow did away with it (stopped requireing it).

If I recall correctly, the change by Obama wasn’t done legislatively, but by his decree, as most things he did were. Am I correct?

I remember the Never Trumpers saying that conservatives shouldn’t vote for Trump because he was really just a Democrat running as a Republican. So far, I don’t see the evidence of that. This budget is a Hell of a lot more conservative than anything we would have gotten out of Jeb Bush.

US Comptroller General Gene Dodaro said Medicare, Medicaid (and the Earned Income Tax Credit) account for 75 percent of the trillion stolen by refugees falsifying govt apps.

REFERENCE---A Medicaid Fraud Ring In Brooklyn by Russian Refugee Constituents of Sen Charles Scuhumer (Dem-NY)
By Julia Ioffe, NY Magazine, published March 2, 2012

In March 2012, thirty-six Russians---Soviet immigrants----were arrested in Brooklyn, New York for plotting to bilk US health-insurance companies out of a quarter of a billion tax dollars.

The plot, according to the NY Times, involved ten doctors, nine clinics, and a hundred and five corporations: “The ring falsified official US govt documennts demanding tax dollars----reimbursements for a mountain of excessive and unnecessary medical treatments that were never done.

The Russian fraudsters were so brazen that they already had in-place three separate billing-processing companies just to handle the paperwork.....to get the tax dollars into their greedy hands faster.

=====================================================

NOTES---What’s remarkable here is just how unremarkable the story is, coming, as it does, out of Sen Schumer's district-----the Russia-centric Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.

Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, is famous for its Russian delicacies, entertainment, a population of highly-inflected Russian dialects, but mostly for its concentration of insurance fraud.

The NY Times reports, “Brighton Beach has one of the highest rates of health care fraud in the nation, according to federal statistics.

An analysis from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (agency regulates those two programs), shows that more health care providers in the Brighton Beach ZIP code are currently barred from the programs for malfeasance than in almost any other ZIP code in the United States.

===========================================

SENATOR SCHUMER IS PUSHING THE TRUMP/RUSSIAN COLLUSION

Prior to his taking the US Senate seat, Sen Schumer represented:

<><> the Ninth Congressional District in Brooklyn and Queens for eighteen years.

<><> earlier Schumer represented the Forty-Fifth Assembly District in Brooklyn for six years.

=========================================================

SEN SCHUMER MUST HAVE SPRUNG INTO ACTION TO DEFEND TAXPAYERS BEING RIPPED OFF BY HIS RUSSIAN CONSTITUENTS. RIGHT?

Right? It’s not an entitlement. We do have to get a handle on this beast though. Congress should be looking at changing the system. Keep those 50 and older on the current system. 49 and below need to be phased into a plan that makes sense for today.

60+ Trillion in unfunded liabilities? Ain’t ever gonna remain solvent.
