SHOW TRANSCRIPT
TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (KCRA)
Travis Air Force Base is currently responding to a “real world security incident,” officials posted on the base’s Facebook page.
Those on the base are being told to lock doors and windows, according to the base’s official Twitter account.
The public is being asked to stay away from the base to ensure emergency responders can respond accordingly.
The base’s main gate is closed, according to Fairfield police.
The Air Force Base planned to simulate a “security incident” on base on Wednesday and Thursday. However, the base’s official Facebook account posted that “the current security incident is not associated with the scheduled base exercise.”
No other details have been released.

The Base Exchange will be full of airmen and their families. It is a shoppng mall layout with food court.
It annoys me beyond words when military personnel are ordered to “shelter in place”. If you’re in uniform, you obey orders (mostly), but that is an exceptionally stupid order. Just as ships have plans to use their crew in ship defense, even in port where the ship’s weapons may not be as helpful as one would wish, bases should have the same kind of plan. [Just my opinion, and I know there are bugs to work out in terms of identifying yourselves and avoiding friendly fire.]
Hasan was able to kill so many at Ft. Hood because soldiers weren’t allowed to carry on base. Apparently we haven’t learned.
People were being evacuated (orderly, no running) from the commissary building about 30 minutes earlier, per helo reporter.
That is standard protocol. Either shelter in place or try to evacuate.
It’s California. Our men are doubtless, unarmed.
FOX2 helo reporter said the news helo had to fly outside the base airspace, so they are at 3,000 ft.
