What I read here on FR in a nutshell was that Coats said to Trump that there is no evidence of collusion, and Trump harped on this fact stating over and over that this info needs to get public. The spin being that Trump was obsessed with these Russia investigations and wanted them to go away and therefore obstructed Justice.
Reality is if you had this issue dogging your agenda and you knew the truth having been a major part of your campaign, you would encourage people like Coats, & Comey to go public and help clear this up.

What is the point of a congressional investigation? - NONE other than to provide ‘face time’ for the cmte members and Closed Doors only means we get to spin what was said for the public. In other words total BS and we drag this out to 2018 mid-terms and if Dems win, here comes impeachment for obstruction to kill Trump agenda and possible re-election bid

What Trump asked Coats and Rogers to do or facilitate is the same thing he asked Comey to do, that Comey refused to do. Tell the public what you told Congress in closed hearing.

What Comey did to Trump was equivalent to arresting someone and keeping them in jail for six months while they tried to find some crime, any crime, to justify the arrest.
