Dash cams are one of the the best things to happen in law enforcement in quite a while. Makes it much more difficult for criminals to run their scams. Also it tends to keep the officers even more polite and professional.

I think the TV show COPS had a lot to do with proving the value of audio/video backup of law enforcement interactions.
