The problem with national reciprocity is that it is stablish is the idea that the federal government has a role in the regulations of firearms. And the Liberals want that idea established in a bad way. I would rather keep it the way it is

Refusal to grant carry, or creating a permitting process that takes 1-2 years is not a “reasonable restriction” by any stretch of the imagination.

It does. National Reciprocity would be enacted under Article IV, Section 1 authority -- "Full Faith and Credit" of public acts among the States.

This would be a constitutionally authorized "regulation" (as in "making regular"). Gun bans have nothing to do with the well-regulated militia. The FEDS have no constitutional authority to ban arms.

National Reciprocity from the jokesters in Congress would be not unlike an Article V convention, a Joke.

The answer is the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.

The idea that Government is in charge of allowing personal defense to the detriment of common sense and personal defense is if anything, unconstitutional.

“Keep the feds out of this. States can work it all out themselves.”

SOME States can, many don’t. I shouldn’t have to sacrifice my rights because some dipwads in some States are control freak communists.

Why is south Carolina red on that map?

Pennsylvania is green so I assume this is a reciprocity map for PA.

Don't travel to a state controlled by communists. Move away from a state controlled by communists. That is the beauty of sovereign states in a federal system.

“Don’t travel to a state controlled by communists. “

Childishly said. That isn’t always possible.

South Carolina used to be bad about offering reciprocity until quite recently. I know my carry license from GA did not make me legal until some time in the last year IIRC. Which was a pain, since we end up over there once or twice a year.

So it may be just that that map / the information it is based on is out of date.

Tough words and right on the mark, too, IMO. Neither were “heroes”, either. Both were derelict in their observation duties. A more than obvious pair of AA hires there.

The Bill of Rights are rights afforded every person in the USA and is therefore not a states right issue.

So in other words states cannot ban felons from owning firearms? Cannot prevent people who have been judged mentally incompetent from owning firearms? Cannot prevent a five-year-old from owning a firearm?

GA and SC have just recently reached reciprocity. GA extends reciprocity to any state that reciprocates with us.

Without national reciprocity we are not free in our movements and securities.

At this moment getting a Utah CHL is as close as you can get

I agree. The 2nd amendment shall not be infringed, nor the 1st.

It galls me that I may not travel freely in my country.

"The issue I have with national concealed carry is the same issue I have with Obamacare."

National reciprocity is not the same as "national concealed carry" (i.e. a federally issued CCW license). I agree with you on "national CCW". But national reciprocity is square in the center of the fedgov's authority to regulate interstate commerce.

SC is red on that map because they don’t recognize a particular state’s CCW permit, in this case PA. You can Google these maps. The “laws” are so inconsistent it is an abomination. People have gone to prison.

Easily said if you are fortunate to live in a state that does it violate your 2nd Amendment rights.
