The Supreme Court of the United States announced Monday that it will review the lower court injunctions blocking enforcement of President Donald Trump’s executive order barring travel from six Muslim-majority countries. In a per curiam opinion, the Court announced it will consolidate the cases from the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Ninth and Fourth circuit, Trump v. Hawaii and Trump v. International Refugee Assistance Project, respectively. Both courts found the executive order unenforceable as a likely violation of the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment Establishment Clause because the lower courts held it was motivated by an intent to disfavor Islam.

“Supreme Court Reinstates Trump Travel Ban from Muslim-Majority Countries”

Did they reinstate the ban or consolidated all cases and will now hear it?

“I don’t think agreeing to review the lower court decisions equates to reversing the injunctions and “reinstating” the executive order.”

Me either. or is it neither?

Headline is FAKE headline. It may very well become true, but it isn’t yet.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is letting a limited version of the Trump administration ban on travel from six mostly Muslim countries to take effect, a victory for President Donald Trump in the biggest legal controversy of his young presidency.

The court said Monday the ban on visitors from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen could be enforced as long as they lack a “credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States.” The justices will hear arguments in the case in October.

Trump said last week that the ban would take effect 72 hours after being cleared by courts.

The Trump administration said the 90-day ban was needed to allow an internal review of the screening procedures for visa applicants from those countries. That review should be complete before Oct. 2, the first day the justices could hear arguments in their new term.

Islam has been at war with civilization for 1395 years.

Would we have been so accommodating to Nazism 75 years ago?

The ban is reinstated until the courts hear the case in Oct.

Good news, but where is it stated that the ban is reinstated...

Just wondering.

The lower court orders are invalid on their face. There is absolutely no “first amendment freedom of religion” protection for aliens, nor do the courts have any jurisdiction over the subject matter of who is or isn’t permitted entry into USA on national defense grounds. It’s absurd, ignorant, or political decisions like these that create such wide- spread disrespect for the judiciary

Yes they did, in a limited fashion. If one can prove a direct relationship to someone in the US, then the applicant may come over but blanket approval for refugee status is out.

posters who say “winning” are pointing to the ruling’s portion that allows most of the ban to stay in place _until_ they hear the case.

imo not a full win until we see just what all they’re allowing. By all accounts, it’s “mostly” going to stay in place.

i’m still looking into it

Only part is in place. Only those with no relatives, work or school interests are affected by this ruling at this time.

Who says they won’t, the ruling puts the ban in place and for those with relations here there wasn’t any claim to that approval would be automatic.
