US may preempt an Assad chemical strike in Syria

Signs were gathering in Washington and the Middle East Tuesday, June 26 that the Trump Administration was preparing a substantial military operation against the Syrian army and Bashar Assad's allies, such as the foreign pro-Iranian Shiite militias and Hizbullah. Some US military sources suggested than an American preemptive strike was in store in the coming hours to prevent Assad's army from again resorting to chemical warfare against his people.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Monday night...

The US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley then further stoked the tensions......

Haley's tweet ended with the cliffhanger: "Stay tuned for more tomorrow."..........

DEBKAfiles's military sources add: An American attack on Syria, whether preemptive or punitive, may be launched from the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush in the eastern Mediterranean.

It was from this vessel that the US Navy fighter jets took off on June 18 to down a Syrian SU-22 fighter bomber over eastern Syria....

Lets hope cooler heads prevail and the President of the United States is not pushed into a war in Syria.

This story is from the pro-Israel propaganda type site DEBKA for what its worth.

Nikki Haley's twitter comment last night "Stay tuned for more tomorrow" figures in this story.

If Israel feels threatened by events in Syria and that appears to be the case based on Israeli artillery-air strikes in Syria from time to time, let Israel do the fighting, not the USA and other nations.

If any of the Islamic factions win, then whatever Christians remain in Syria are going to be persecuted.

If Assad wins, they will be protected from the muslim majorities.

Neither side will institute Jeffersonian democracy; it will be either a Sunni theocracy or else a secular authoritarian regime.

In the event, I opt for #2 as the best choice among many bad choices.

Assad may want to ponder what will be the last thing he will see.

Haley is neocon McMaster's sock puppet and McMaster knows ISIS has its back against the wall and will use chemical weapons soon. Either that, or Al Q is getting ready to pull a major chemical attack against the Syrian Army.

This seems to be getting serious. Russia’s ambassador to the US was recently recalled, something countries do before a war.

Many people voted for Trump because he would end this nonsense. What is happening now is proof that the President does not run the country. We are at war with Syria and the Congress has not declared war. Assad will be followed by chaos as post Quidaffi’s Libya. Years from now the truth about these chemical attacks will come out. Gassing women and children does not win wars unless it is used by the propagandists on the other side.

Um... it’s DEBKA. Not a great track record of prognostication...

A little psychological warfare perhaps aimed at Israel’s enemies in Syria. They are promoting fear in Syria of an attack.

But the coming hours will tell if this is true.

what this does is to give ISIS a big incentive to stage a gas attack.

[sarc] It is amazing that the MSM can so clearly and instantaneously see through the fog of war. I mean, isn't it obvious to all that the folks who burn girls and young women in cages would be never the type to use poison gas? [/sarc]

If Nikki actually believes this crap about Assad, she's a naive fool at best.
