They’ve obviously got this under control.

Carry on, Illinois.

I fervently hope that Illinois goes bust, because it will show us here in CA “the way” to force California into the same bankrupt status. Bankruptcy is the only way we are going to get the RATs out of our state governments.

The Illinois Lottery transferred $691.6 million to the Common School Fund during fiscal year 2016.

Without the “Lottery” tax, the entire house of cards falls apart. That’s why Madigan is finally scrambling to cobble up a budget.

State of Illinois moving to junk rating status. Tax revenues down by almost $1 billion as companies and individuals flee the state. They have $15 billion in unpaid bills and pension liabilities that are unfunded of near $200 billion.

Delayed? Delayed until when? There's nothing to suggest that Illinois' financial situation is going to get better anytime soon, to the contrary it's getting worse. So assume the delay will be indefinite. And if you sue to try and collect there are a whole lot of other creditors in line in front of you.

Something has to give. I pray we Illinois property owners won’t be forced to pay the bill.

I imagine that they’re still funding “gay pride” parades and celebrations, though.

THe democRATS will never give up power. They will only be dragged from their perches by the barrel of a gun.

If Illinois goes bankrupt, who is going to pay? THe rest of us, and the corrupt democRATS who ran it into the ground will continue as before.

government at it’s finest. All they had to do was sell tickets, collect money, take out 50% of it and hand the rest over to the winner.

South Side Chicago carry-outs hardest hit.

Because, y’know, people below the poverty line have no discretionary cash to spend.

Which is the bigger gamble, buying a ticket and knowing you lost five minutes later, or choosing to dedicate a thirty year career on the promise that thirty years later they will pay you?

Only in Illinois can lottery prizes + expenses < proceeds?

The government doesn’t tax us so it can do things.

The government “does things” for an excuse to tax us.

Illinois is just one of several “Canaries” in the proverbial coalmine kept operating under the guidance of all knowing and wise socialist, in a race who will hit bottom first.

I’m in the same boat. My worry is that property taxes are the last large pool they will draw from. The only way out is to look for an escape hatch from the state.
