The intersection of 12th and Ocean has been the cornerstone of the LGBT community for almost thirty years, but that is about to change.
Queens at The Palace Bar have been stunning tourists, stopping traffic and serving locals for quite some time. But those doors are closing for good.
Its so sad because we are a family here, we are a team, and all of us make this place what it is today, said T.P. Lords, one of the performers.

The local media seems to be traumatized over this place shutting down. The rent is supposedly too damn high. Now the owner wants to move it to a town up north, Wilton Manors.

The next tenant would be wise to use industrial strength bleach on every surface before setting up shop.

I guess the local health department will have to move the pin on their “STD Nexus” map, too.

Gays being gentrified out of a place? It's usually the other way around. Maybe they should try this in San Francisco.

Good old chlorine bleach. It’s greatly underrated.

I wonder how many transmitted cases of HIV that place was responsible for??

Costs are still rising in SF. If your business isn’t profitable enough, you’ve got to move somewhere cheaper.

Isn’t this the place that 0 just made a national landmark or something on his way out the door?

“Market forces at work.”
The sodomites have apps like Grindr now to hook up with their anonymous disease vectors. Who needs awkward bars?

That would be off the peninsula, Oakland maybe. Colma’s pretty much taken, otherwise that would work.

For 30 years, I’d treat it as a biohazard site, gut the place, and bleach the debris. Then do similar cleaning to the remaining surfaces and rebuild.
If money were no objection, I’d do a full demolition and build anew, to assure cleanliness.

What a stupid story. This is news? A business is relocating a few miles north. Now if it were moving to Mexico or China, that might be a story.

No that was the Stonewall place in New York City, which the homosexuals regard with reverence, as the place where “their revolution” began.
I don’t get it. How do you honor the history at a gay bar? Do you go in and have a drink and say a toast to the homosexual community?
To: SoFloFreeper
wonder how the people of Wilton Manors feel about this
