Revealed: 'Ordinary 'citizen' John McCain dispatched a trusted aide across the Atlantic to get dirty dossier from ex-spy after former British diplomat told him about blackmail tapes.
Sen. John McCain said he did 'what any citizen would do' in turning over the dirty dossier, which contained unconfirmed secrets about the president-elect, over to the FBI.
The Guardian charted the path of how the dossier came to be and how it was that McCain got his hands on the controversial documents.
The story of the dossier began with an investigative firm in Washington, D.C., being tapped by one of Trump's primary allies to dig up some opposition research on the Republican hopeful.

I heard this some time ago as well. I am baffled as to why there wasn’t a huge outrage from fellow Republicans. Why has he not been ousted from the party? Why does this go by with barely a whisper out of any of them? Why aren’t Republicans screaming about this when they’re interviewed?

And just who is Fusion GPS? Fusion GPS was behind the colorful and controversial Christopher Steele dossier that emerged as one of the most bizarre moments in an already bizarre presidential campaign. The dossier contained a listing of unverified, almost unspeakable allegations about President Donald Trump.
The company’s efforts were funded first by a Republican and, once Steele came on board and the primary was over, a Democrat.
There is reason to believe that Republican was no less than John McCain. The Democrat was someone high in the Clinton campaign, most likely, John Podesta.
